Okay so yesterday I wasn't feeling well at all and my boss wouldn't let me leave, so I was trying to call my mother to tell her I was feeling well and as I was talking to my mom she unpluged the phone and started yelling me. Also this guy was sick as well and she let him leave. This women is so nasty to the other teenage girls that work for her, but she is always nice to the boys. I don't understand why she hates me, I'm one of the nicest people you could meet. Should I quit?

Talk to her about it first, see why she treats you bad and the boys nice. Then either quit or fight it. If you chose to fight it then, bring it to the attention of the store manager or if necessary the regional manager. They should be the ones to address issues with personal. Sometimes companies have hot-line to report stuff like that.

Yes, quit, there are plenty of jobs out there for teenage girls. Don't waste your time and emotion on this tyrant when you should be focused on school and getting a little spending money. Anyone who unplugs the phone then yells at you is clearly not someone you want to be working with. There is appropriate behavior in the workplace that needs to be followed and she doesn't do it.

Hi Amy
No you shouldn't it doesn't matter where you work someone is always going to be mean. Talk to your mom and then file a complaint with the labor board of you state and tell them what your boss is doing. every state has its own labor laws and part of them is not having to work in a hostile working enviorment and favoritism, all employees are supposed to be treated equally other than that it is discrimination: sex, racial, ethnic or religious and all of these are against the labor laws as well as state and federal laws.
Remember there will be some problems after that, but your boss will have to follow the law, just check on it before you decide to file, talk with your parents....
Good Luck Amy....

it apears that u were not feeling well when u left for office. that is why u told yr mother on phone that u were well. when u are unwell, the best thing is to send application for leave accompanied by medical certificate. once u attend office, it is supposed u r wealth unless there is very serious sudden sickness.
as regards boss's partisanship to boys, it is her peculiar habit and u cant do anything. it is possible that it may be temporary problem and she may be transferred. u shd try to give good performance and satisfy her. the type of problem stated by u can be in other place also and quitting is no solutuin.

Sounds like you were talking on company time using company equipment (phone) and maybe so was your coworker. It also sounds like there's something else you're leaving out of this story. Bosses are human beings too and get frustrated by a lot of things including: when employees abuse privileges with company time and equipment. Maybe your boss could have handled it more professionally, but could have been having a bad day like you. Made worse by observing employees being unproductive. Be more mindful of your work and responsibilities and your boss will treat you better too.

Is there an HR department you can go to? Chances are she's had this problem before. But quit, definitly.

first, call the labor board and report the discrimination, then quit. That should really put her undies in a bunch.

Unfortunately, too much of this goes unreported. It won't change until employees start fighting back.

I wouldn't suggest quitting but I would think about turning her in. Everyone has a boss. Find out who hers is and let them know that you feel discriminated by her actions. Make sure your are willing to tough it out though. 1 of 2 things are liable to happen; she will either be disciplined by her boss and leave you alone or she will wage all out war on you. Hope its not the latter. good luck.

what is your job??
try to stick it but if shes keeps being like that just leave - in fact you could start looking for other jobs now then hand in your notice at an appropriate time
when you got a boss like that though giving her more excuses like using the phone for personal reasons is bad idea

I would hate having a mean boss. :(

My mum use to have a boss who was a very well known lawyer.

He was always so horrible to her, and because she was a nice person she was always getting pushed around. He use to scream at her just because he was in a bad mood.

One day, she stood up to him. She didn't yell back and insult him, but she did show that she was not going to be pushed around like that.

From then on, he respected her and even said please when he asked stuff. :)

Take it easy. This might be a passing phase in her life or may be a new boss may arrive. And if these possibilities are not there,
you better consider for a job change.
