"75. O CHILDREN OF NEGLIGENCE!
Set not your affections on mortal sovereignty and rejoice not therein. Ye are even as the unwary bird that with full confidence warbleth upon the bough; till of a sudden the fowler Death throws it upon the dust, and the melody, the form and the color are gone, leaving not a trace. Wherefore take heed, O bondslaves of desire!"

(Baha'u'llah, The Persian Hidden Words)

Joanna H- You have a well thought response, but the punctuation has left its exact meaning muddled. Thumbs up for what I thought you meant...

Basically, be careful about who and what you worship because death comes unannounced and at the most inopportune times to bring you to judgment.

Perhaps it means we should not be full of hubris and go forth as if we are the only right, for we shall be struck down in death and never have had an insightful thought, never have seen truth except for that which we tell ourselves is truth. An admonition against mindless selfishness at the expense of all else--the bird knows its song, but it doesn't know the universe and it is in darkness when Death takes it, sudden fear instead of the welcoming hand, separation through concentration on the material that must pass away, even as the bird passes away. It is all impermanent and to desire it is folly.

The Will is subsumed in the Judgment. This is a regular phenomena of religion. Any errors of apparent Will are found in the Judgment of that same one (the so called sinner), but we must grant the possibility its being as something new of necessity, change the self as never before in humanity and take an other step forward. But you know, life is risk taking. Learn from history.

The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative.

Ummm.... Your parents are crappy for treating you the way they did but don't worry because everything will be fine if you just believe you can pull through and be confident in everything you do until your death. Pay attention and do not repeat what they did.

well its kind of hard to understand it because its old fashioned but i believe it means to not be foolish and spend your time helping others instead of spending it being greedy, and to know that tomorrow is never promised to anyone so make use of the short time on earth you do have. quite a good quote when you really think about it.
