gee, i wonder who would hate you for this question? i'm sure they feel that you have a right to ask a trivial question such as this. but i'll humor you and answer. it's because their boyfriends are idiots XD ahahaha kidding. its not just that, but most women want attributes that they don't have or that they feel they lack. skinny women want more curves, chubby girls want to be stick thin. things like that. its also a self-esteem/confidence thing. girls that have low confidence think negatively of themselves. sometimes its a mental thing. people with bdd (body dysmorphic disorder), a disorder that makes your self-image distorted, can't really be blamed, but they can be helped. most of the time, its just out of vanity or the idea that things would be better or different if they were skinny. and let's not forget those that fish for compliments. some women just want people to be like "no you're not" or "you're so thin" blah blah blah. luckily for those women, most people these days just roll their eyes when skinny women say they're fat, no compliments to be fished there. other women feel the pressure from society that to be beautiful you have to be thin or that you'd fit in better or be more appealing. things like that. but again, most of the time its a mixture of low self-esteem/confidence, lack of self-worth, and a distorted image of what beauty really is. then there is that strange exception where some girls say they're fat because they're stick thin, eat a lot, and on some level, want to gain some lbs. that's the thing though. they only THINK it. its in their heads, not necessarily a physical attribute but one that is embedded in their brains. and that type of self-image is hard to change. women will only stop thinking their fat when they are completely satisfied with themselves and few are because everyone always has that thought in the back of their head that there's always something they lack. it must be human nature to always feel a sense of wanting something more.

It could be because they are surrounded by pictures of skinny women ... made even skinnier by the airbrush wielding fashion nazi's.

It could be because other people - predominantly men (I'm sad to say) - sometimes use it ("You're FAT!") against women as an insult to hurt them or manipulate them.

Well I use to think I was fat. (I suppose I was), but I don't think I am fat now. I have lost 48lbs. I have dropped 4 dress sizes. The results are absolutely amazing.

I don't think it...I know it. I am 5'4 and I weigh 178 lbs. I am losing weight but it is taking longer than I had wished. Ask me again next year. :)
