I've heard that when guys say I met this girl with a great personality it means she's not hot. is it true?

Honestly, it could mean anything. She might even be hot and have a great personality. If you ever meet someone with an unbelievably great personality, it might not even matter that she is hot...you don't care. However, usually, at least with my buddies, if we are talking about a girl with a great personality she is either plain-looking or maybe even ugly.
But personality is important to me. Having a pretty woman with no personality is way too boring.

Haha no. well at least not most of the time. If a guy thinks a chicks ugly he will pretty much say it. At least i would with my friends. But if he says "i met this girl with a great personality." it really means he met someone who has a great personality. Which is hot in a different way

why can't a guy say a girl has a great personality? That doesn't mean she's not hot. It means he likes her personality, plain and simple. If he doesn't find you attractive, he probably would have said, "I don't find her attractive." Most guy's don't talk in code like alot, not all, but alot of females do. Also, did it ever occur to you that maybe he was more interested in you as a person and not as an object like a prize or a trophy? I always thought women wanted to be treated like people, but it sounds like you want him to like you as a beautiful object and not a beautiful person with a colorful personality. I don't know you, I'm just going by your question, but if you'd rather a guy like you for looking good and not your personality, you're in for a lifetime of disappointment and heartache. :-(

It really doesn't. 'A great personality' can mean just that, and yes, we do sometimes talk about such things - and yes, a nice personality is important to most of us. Contrary to belief, we're not really all that into girls who have no personality, it makes everything so very dull.
There are some code words though:
"Bubbly" often means somewhat overweight
"Nice legs" often means 'not such a nice face'
There are a few more along those lines. But 'Nice personality" nearly always means just that (unless it's followed by an immediate 'but...')

haha- i get honesty from alot of guy friends.... it means the same thing as when we say rugged.....lol
the first thing they noticed is this woman's spirit and passion and perhaps even just being laid back.... the looks weren't remarkable enough for them to be pre-occupied with eg: not being fixated on their boobs and actually remebering some of the things she said
it means good things.... the girl probably isn't ugly at all- they were just more interested in what she said/did- attractiveness is so subjective anyway.

It depends on whether the guy is a scuzz ball or not. Not all men are interested in looks primarily. Some guys actually value a good personality.

Honey I've been a guy for over half a century now and if there's one thing you girls don't get about "guy talk" it's this:
We don't talk, we transfer data.
If he said you have a great personality don't worry about "hot."
I don't know this guy but I bet he's not a girl.

Not necessarily. It can mean that, but it's also possible that a guy is just honestly impressed with a girl's personality.
