I think God wants strong willed people. The people in the Bible that he used like David, Moses, Paul, Esther, Deborah, Peter, etc. all displayed strong wills. The key is to aline your will with God's will.
In order to resist temptation, to do good in spite of evil, takes a strong will. Use that gift for the Lord's glory.
In terms of planning, the Bible says that God directs our path. As long as you ask God to make your plans in line with Him, your plans will be blessed.
A good example of a planner,and a strong willed person in the Bible is Nehemiah. He single handly encouraged the Israelites to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Take the time to read the story. It should encourage you.

God doesn't not want you to do anything or not plan ahead. There is just the fact that god controls the outcome. He helps those who help themselves, and has mercy on those who don't (if he so chooses.) So no its not wrong to plan and have goals if your a christian, so long as you let some burden fall on god. Like telling him your anguish and time of need, don't just believe you can handle the whole of it. Maybe you can, but the the nature of gods grace. So if you want to be both a christian and a proactive person... that completely fine. God bless.

When you get the feeling that you are disappointed with something that you cannot control, you have to remind yourself that you have to trust God. Sometimes I say it so that my own ears can hear it. All you have to do, is tell yourself and God that you trust Him TODAY. And tomorrow, you do it again.
And if you are really organized, you might want something that He promised when you do put your trust in Him, like this:
3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
( Psalm 37 )
Trust him for it, every day. He said it, make it your own promise to trust Him with. I'm telling you, God is trustworthy!

there is a song with a great line that describes people like you and myself, "if you want to hear God laugh tell him your plan."
I am strong willed as well and you are right it is very difficult. i think what we have to do is stick to our convictions except for matters of faith. you have to let that go, do your best, and trust that he will take care of you.... I'm working on this also.
God Bless.

pray and take one day at a time. Don't analyze everything. Constantly remind yourself to take a break and stop trying to control what doesn't belong to you in the first place. Believe me you will learn to love life so much more. Wishing you well.

We do not give up our will, we transform it into God's will, by turning from our sins and by getting baptized in the name of Jesus for the payment of our sins.(Acts2:38) Then God will give you the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost(God Himself) will lead, teach, and guide you. If you do not have the Holy Spirit, you will fail.

it's not something you can (expect yourself to) do all at once... it has to be a gradual process. give Him something small and see how He blesses you for it! it will give you the strength AND the desire to continue to turn your will over to His! EVERY time I give something more over to Him, He NEVER ceases to amaze me with how richly He blesses it... how much BETTER things are --even when I didn't think they could be!-- when HE is in control.
