That's he's paying way to much attention to what you are wearing than what you are saying.

Define "preen". It sounds like a sexual euphemism but I know it's probably not, my mind is just all dirty like that.
I found this definition of "preen":
"of a bird : to groom with the bill especially by rearranging the barbs and barbules of the feathers and by distributing oil from the uropygial gland"
Is this what you mean?
