Question: "What does the Bible say about homosexuality? Is homosexuality a sin?"

Answer: The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When a person continues in sin and disbelief, the Bible tells us that God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God.

God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that a person becomes a homosexual because of sin (Romans 1:24-27), and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person choosing to sin by giving into their sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger / rage, does that make it right for then to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true for homosexuality.

However, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a “greater” sin than any other. All sin is offensive to God. Homosexuality is just one of the many things listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 that will keep a person from the kingdom of God. According to the Bible, God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is to an adulterer, idol worshipper, murderer, thief, etc. God also promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

i think that this answer may help you. if so, please send a message to me which makes me happy.

You may be out of luck. Homophobes already have to go through some interpretive gyrations just to make homosexuality a sin. The chances of finding a sympathetic verse is virtually nil. The fact is, the Bible doesn't say much about the subject at all. It's just not a priority.

The best you might manage is a neutral passage about doing God's work (as opposed to telling everyone else how to live).

Did you intend this question to cause division? If so, why do that? If you are a student of the Bible, you know darn well that there are no verses that excuse this.

If your question is sincere please accept my apology at misreading your motive.

However, I challenge you to find a list in scripture which ranks sins in from most severe to least, in God's view. Jesus said before pulling the speck from your brother's eye pull the beam from your own.

All sin makes us imperfect and therefore we are all equal in God's eyes.

Now, go show some Christian love and do something that will advance the kingdom not drive people away. It seems that loving others was pretty important to Jesus. If that is not important to you well...

edit-- Kerri, honestly you do your credibility no favors by reading, quoting, linking to or any other association to "Chick Publications". I am sure you are a sincere believer but there is much error with that organization. Stick to the Word of God you will be fine.

Homosexuality is a sin, so there won't be a verse anywhere in the Bible that condones it.

By the way, God hates the SIN, NOT THE SINNER. He still loves you whether or not you sin.

Just to be perfectly clear let me define:

SIN=ACT

SINNER=PERSON COMMITTING THE SIN.

God loves PERSON, Hates ACT.

Preachers should be the same way, but humans are not perfect.

You might want to contact an Episcopalian Church now that they are openly accepting queer & lesbian pastors`! Evidently they have also "created" a verse in The Holy Bible that says` that being a queer is not a sin ? It would be interesting to find out how they have found a way to make a mockery out of GOD , His Church , and His Word !

I have much more respect for a person who seeks knowledge on his or her own first, being that we are in an age where most things are a simple click away on the internet. If you are sincere, try looking in a concordance.

That being said, to try and help you get started I recommend Romans 1.21-27; 1 Corinthians 6.9; Leviticus 18.22-23. They should set you straight (no pun intended). Good luck in your search!

You know that you won't find that in the Bible. What you will find is that Jesus repeatedly tells us to love one another, forgive one another, and to not dare to be judgemental. I think that means that unless we are without sin, we should be asking repentence for ourselves and loving other people as they are, and allowing God to work in their lives. We can tell them what we believe, what the Bible says, but if we do it in a hateful manner we will only be reinforcing what they already believe: that Christians don't practice what they preach. Let us try to be loving and ask God for help in reaching out to others. God bless you, I know you're working for Him.

man shall not lie with another man..........lest he die the death.
Pretty sure that's in Genesis somewhere when God is handing down the law.

SO ....

Sorry bout your luck its NOT going to be found in the Bible. Any versions that are out there that do have such nonsensical things written in them have been altered to suit MANS want for socially acceptable religion.

And um that ain't gonna cut it.
