I would go with OpenOffice because it is entirely free for you to download with no cost and it has most of the features that Microsoft Office 2003 has. Microsoft Office 2007 has a few new features such as the Ribbon but that's just about it. If you're on a tight budget, then you should go with OpenOffice. However, if you do have the money to purchase Microsoft Office 2007 (it costs $145 on Amazon), then go ahead. It's your choice, although you'd save money with OpenOffice.

If you are a college student and have a college email address then Microsoft Office is a really good deal for you right now. Go here... http://www.theultimatesteal.com/home.asp ... and you can get a copy of Office 2007 Ulitmate (which retails for over $650 I believe) for just $60, and yes this is completely legitimate and is a direct offer from Microsoft for college students.

Legal M$-Office is hundreds of dollars and Open Office is free and M$-Office compatible.

Soooo, open is the best value for the money, eh?
