I've always had dark eye brows & dark blonde hair. A few times, they've put some of the hair color on my brows for a few minutes to lighten them a little when I get my hair colored professionally. I'm going to color my hair tomorrow myself, should I try to put a little on my brows, if so, how long do I keep it on for?

I'm just doing an all over 1 shade color, to get rid of all the highlights & get closer to my natural color, till I can afford to get it done professionally & decide what I want to do w/it for winter.

if the dye is subtle compare to your eyebrows then you should. its usually the first thing i dye and i keep it on for as long as i keep the rest of the hair dye on (about an hour). i've learned that it takes longer for them to turn..use one side of a q-tip to apply the dye and the other to clean off any excess that might get on your skin. good luck!

Do not use hair dye on your eyebrows.

Try using Jolen bleach for facial hair instead. Carmindy uses this on TLC's "What Not to Wear."

Here's an online article w/ directions.

How to Lighten Dark Eyebrows
by Melody

Maybe it’s just me, but it bugs me to no end to see a blonde with dark brows. I know often the brows are kept dark purposely for contrast, but still, I hate how it looks. I’m a dark brunette, and even when I just have my hair highlighted, I *have* to lighten my brows to match. Here’s how it’s done.
Instructions
Difficulty: Easy
Things You'll Need

* Jolen Creme Bleach
* Damp washcloth

Steps

Step One
Click to enlarge
Pick up a little box of Jolen crème bleach from your favorite local drugstore chain.

Step Two
Read the directions, warnings, etc. and do the skin test if you have sensitive skin. Or live dangerously, skip the test, and get down to business.

Step Three
Mix well one part powder to two parts crème.

Step Four
With the little spatula, cover your brows with the paste and leave on five minutes. The package says ten minutes, but five is best for brows.

Step Five
Wipe off cream with a damp washcloth to see the results.
Overall Tips & Warnings

* If you want to see how your brows will turn out, clip a little swatch of hair of your hair try it out.

Never do a drastic change because your eyebrows grow very fast. A little lighter is fine. I would not leave it in as long as I would on my hair. You could always redo it if the change is not enough. Just save a little of the hair color.

I once knew a girl that colored her eyebrows blonde, and within a week you could see dark roots growing in. It looked horrible.

I wouldn't recommend it, especially doing it yourself because if you get it in your eyes it could lead to blindness. However depending how drastic of a color change you are doing would really depend on if you should do your brows or not.

If your just trying to get your hair back its natural color i would not risk doing your brows. They should match ok with your natural color so they should be pretty close.

Yes you can ... and keep it on just about half the time... but keep an eye on it .. because sometimes they can lighten quicker. And be sure not to get any of the color in your eyes.

i wouldn't suggest doing it because with my experience lightening them is always asking for trouble since it does not lighten like the hair on your head. it has a tendency to go re dish or orange.
darkening on the other hand is no big deal.
go talk to a stylist.

Not very long. Maybe 2-5 minutes would be good.

you can try it. worse come to worse it'll burn or tingle a little OR your eyebrows will turn orange. i'd say leave it on 5 - 10 minutes.
