There is a common misconception that nice guys are boring and finish last. Some are, but that is a big generalisation, because lots of "nice" guys turn out to be bastards. Being nice is one thing, but don't be a doormat or a sucker, or you definately will finish last.

Speaking as a guy who is a little older, I've observed that for some reason women seem drawn to guys who are jackasses. I haven't quite figured out why.
I try to be a nice guy and I'm single still. But I've also come to appreciate that there is a small niche of very classy, cool women who appreciate the nice guys of the world. It's as if a whole door opened to women interested in a non jerk. It's as if they married a jerk the first time around, divorced him and now know what to keep away from. So, no worries. You'll most likely end up happier than the jerks ever will.
Oh and there's another connotation to this phrase. It has to do with sex - nice guys let the woman orgasm first...

Complicated question...
Right now, I work in close proximity with 4 girls. I just got out of a long-term relationship myself. All 4 of them are great, extremely attractive and would have any guy within 50 miles lined up to date them...myself included
with that said, they are all either IN relationships with questionable guys or fresh out of relationships with bad guys. When I say bad I mean controlling, questionable fidelity, etc. It's an interesting phenomenon.
I guess it comes down to what an individual is attracted to or (what I believe) a belief that they either can't get a better guy or they struggle with issues within themselves, whether it be physical or emotional.
Horrible answer I'm sure. But I'm in the same boat in that I've never understood how females can be attracted to such assholes while so many guys out there truly take an interest in them and an interest in making them happy. I think it's internal in nature though.

Girls will say they want a nice guy, but they mean in the long run... What they want for right now is a guy that will tell them how they want and make them feel incredible. When you mix all that dominating, passionate feeling with a nice guys sweetheart mentality. they fall head over heel. You don't have to be last....but who care about last whenyou can be the best choice...and to answer yeah nice guys do... Women say what they want and go after the opposite thing because it's in their nature. They want to be protected, and taken care of... so you got to be on point...believe me I wish I could be myself, but it's not always the case.

Most of the time girls will say they don't but most of the time it seems nice guys do finish last. I'm the same way.

Not always. Asshole guys get the standoffish hot women, and nice guys get the nice wholesome ones. This isn't a cardinal rule, but it is generally true.

No it's not true.
But you also have to look out for yourself and your own desires and interests. Some people let others walk all over them because they think this is what being "nice" is.
