the early six's weighed just under 2500 lbs and the v8's around 2800 lbs. add a couple hundred for 67-68, add another 250 for convertibles.
added:
everything is upgraded and heavier on the v8 models, including brakes, trans, shaft and rearend.. can add over 300 lbs, depending on engine size and trans option.
none weighed under 2400 lbs

I don't see a problem with it as long as you don't live in a snowy climate or if you have another vehicle to drive during the winter. I have a 1965 Mustang that I daily drive and it does just fine. Remember though that these cars are 42 years old and they'll require a lot of up-keep, now if you're not a good with cars this can get hard and expensive if you have a shop do all your repairs. While these cars are very simple and replacement parts for them ARE PLENTIFUL you still must have a good knowledge of cars to work on them because they will leave you stranded on the side of the road sooner or later. I have to agree that they're not the safest thing out there, their safety features are compiled of a padded dash and lap belts, that's it. You can put 3-point belts and a collapsible steering column in them to improve the safety, they'll never be as safe as newer cars, and you have to decide if you can live with the fact that if you get in a bad accident you're probably not coming out alive. That being said, they're amazing cars to drive and incredibly fun. Everywhere I go I always get looks, thumbs ups, and get to hear the "I used to have one of those in high school" stories; I love all that and it makes me feel great when I get to hear some of these older folks tell me how cool it is that a younger kid is driving a car like this. I love taking it to car shows, tinkering around with the engine, cruising through town on a Saturday night and burning out. If you live in a snowy climate though and have nothing else to drive then just forget it. These cars do horrible in the snow and will rust easily with the salt and chemicals they spray on the road, I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford a winter driver (another Mustang lol) and to be able to keep the '65 wrapped up nice and warm in the winter. Now you have to weigh all the facts and decide for yourself if own a classic Mustang is for you, some people can do it, some can't, it's all about if you're up to the challenge.

I recall reading one time that a 67 Fastback 390 weighed in at 3300, but that seems a little high. I recently drove my 67 coupe on to commercial scales, it weighed at 2860 with an aluminum head 302 and Weld Drag Light wheels. Hope this helps

65-66 w/ 6 cyl is 2570 lbs. v8 is 3000lbs
All models and years stay within a small variation of this as most cars with a larger, heavier engine had weight reduction mod's to maintain the performance formula and front to rear distribution.

When I started, my blood pressure was 157/94, and I was scared, because I knew that I was heading straight for hypertension, medication and possibly, an early stroke or heart attack. My blood pressure was in a healthy range within two months of following Eat To Live and Eat For Health. I was also a borderline type II diabetic, and that number has gone down also. My triglycerides were 203 and within one month they had dropped to 101.
