How many times have you heard Wh*tney Ho*ston say how grateful she is for the gift God has given to her (referring to her voice). Yet she has managed to completely destroy it by using "crack". Do I need to mention how many "Christian" hollywood stars smoke and drink?

Surprisingly enough, I'm an Atheist and I neither smoke nor drink.

Beer is proof God wants us to be happy - Ben Franklin

I concur.

Smoking and drinking aren't sins. Anything in excess is bad. Moderation is the key.

Christians are free to smoke and drink alcohol. There are many organized religions under the banner of Christianity. The only religions I'm aware of that consider smoking and drinking sinful are the Seventh Day Adventists and Mormons.

As far as I'm concerned, God created tobacco and corn, and gave humankind the brains to figure out how to turn them into cigarettes and moonshine.

The only thing it means to be "Christian" is to believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God, that he suffered (in the manner of his death) in order to "save" believers from the certain damnation of Original Sin, and that he rose from the dead on the 3rd day following his crucifixion.

All Christians don't believe the exact same things, practice their religion in the same ways, or try to shove their beliefs down other people's throats the same way. Some of us believe that our Faith in God is better shared with other people by what we do, and how we treat others, instead of what words come out of our mouths.

Being a Christian doesn't mean we are not human anymore, it just means we are forgiven and we've joined the family of God. Sure, we aspire to be good honest human beings, clean mind body and spirit, but some of us are at different stages in our lives setting and reaching different goals. We also backslide from time to time, like Whitney.

Some Christians do, others don't. Smoking and drinking aren't sins themselves ... however, when you allow your addiction to these things to come between you and your relationship with God, or you allow them to cause you to act in ways contrary to the commandments of Jesus ... that's when they become a problem.

Before I became pregnant, I'd have a drink or two on Friday nights when my husband and I would go out to dinner, and I didn't feel bad about it. I didn't ever allow myself to become "drunk" and act like I shouldn't.

Christianity is the belief in Christ. Even Christ drank. remember water to wine??
Whitney Houston wouldn't know a gift from God if she smoked it.

Some do but not becoming drunk. A little wine is encouraged
in the Bible, but personally I do not do either, but that is my choice. I do not judge others that do.

Poor Whitney H. had a bad influence, she is a beautiful person, I'm glad she is divorcing him.

Mormons are taught not to drink, smoke, or do anything that has addictive side effects because it takes away the agency God has given us. Once addicted to something, you can't be free to choose things, you're restricted to the addiction.
