I have met a guy that I met online. We had a friend in common though, so I new he wasn't some creepy random guy. We talked online for about a year, we finally started talking on the phone (on occasion), and after about three years, we met in person. It was akward. I don't really recommend it.

It's a start. Can you imagine if you two MET? It'd be awkward because you only ever talked over a keyboard and monitor. Just make sure it's a PLANNED call and not a random one. Not ready for that, yet.

The phone # part of internet dating is fun. That's were the voice can make it or break it from going to the next step of meeting.
If you're interested in this person from you e-convo's, then go for, just dial, and say hi, it's ________, then if the conversation goes well, let her know you were really nervous initially, but you're glad she's cool in person(ish) too.
If you're content with the e-relationship, just let her know next time you chat.

it's probably going to be really awkward, but don't be too afraid to do it. It may end up being something. Online is how my fiance and I met, so don't listen to people who don't know what they're talking about.
