You need to get it open, then put a cloth over it as hot as you can stand. This will draw out the puss or infection that is in the zit. Keep changing or warming the washcloth as it cools, you can squeeze it some as you are drawing it out between washcloth changes, but do not use nails, only sides of fingers, as the nails will irritate it more. Also for blackheads, you can use a inkpen that has a removeable center (ink), then put the opening of the pen over the blackhead and push it down, it should pop the blackhead with no problem, no infection, little to no irritation.

Pop it til the core comes out and bleeds, don't belive that it will give you ugly skin. its the chemical medicated stuff like Delicine T etc, that makes your skin ugly. My friends used to use it and it shows! Then apply a hot cloth over it and let it dry so the skin with the blood dries out too, sounds yuck but it works everytime with me. in the morning you can peel the dry skin part off and when you done that, it should be all good to moisterise. This works for me,my mother and sister, but thinking about it might depend on your skin too. Everyone has different skin type, try it and see if works for you. Moisterise with any moisteriser straight after showers, I'm 28 and people think i look 17-19 years of age. My mother is 49 and people think she's 30years old. Clean it, leave it alone. Of course, don't pop it unless it's white or else you'll just make it worse. The best bet is to buy/apply a pimple cream - ( like Clearasil Vanishing or Clean and Clear three days.) Or if you don't want to but that, use toothpaste.

If the size doesn't reduce by morning, before you leave the house, apply ice to reduce redness, but still don't pop it! or scratch. Otherwise, you'll just scab and scar.

Things that work:
Visine with anti red will decrease swelling and redness
Clearasil, etc. will help dry it up
Ice will shrink it, if it isn't infected
Aspirin crushed in a little bit of water will help dry up a zit [ leave on 15 min, and wash off ]
Things that don't:
alcohol dries up your skin, but won't make a big improvement
popping it will remove some goop, but area will still be red next day
toothpaste dries the area, but won't 'kill germs' or get rid of pimple

Use a product with benzoyl peroxide. this is the best, but just dab it directly on the spot because it can really dry out your skin. If you don't have any of that around, then put some rubbing alcohol or peroxide on a Q-tip and dab it directly on the spot. Do this once, wait 10 minutes and let it dry, and then do it again. This will help to dry it out quite a bit.
