See, i have met so many christians(and Muslims) who think we can abuse the earth and kill all the animals because they believe that god will help them if they need it. How does this backwards sort of thinking still exist?

Sadly, Christians have been lied to on a lot of fronts and bought the lie. For example, Rush Limbaugh for many years (and may still) said that basically, we couldn't kill the earth, do with it what we want. He, and many other religious right people, have denied the idea of global warming and are now denying the idea that humans have contributed to it, now that the evidence for it is irrefutable. So, I *do* think that it is mainly political. But what scares me is that I think what has opened them to accepting this lie is something that is TRUE --- namely that Jesus is coming back and this earth *won't* last forever, it will be destroyed. I think this belief --- and mind you, I agree with it --- has caused Christians to think that there's nothing wrong with treating the earth like a trash can since it will be destroyed and then rebuilt by the Lord. How sad, what poor stewardship, and how much *less* pro-life could you be? The argument --- at least the one I've heard --- is that trees are less important than people (true), and since the Republicans are pro-life and generally speaking anti-environment, we have to vote republican. How short sighted is this? If we ruin the planet, it affects ALL life --- born and unborn!
Tonight, I watched 60 minutes and they were talking about how honeybees --- incredibly important to crop growth --- are disappearing. They think it is due to pesticides, mainly. I just wanted to cry, I could barely watch it.
Fellow Christians, do we realize that God notices when a sparrow falls, and that He LOVES all of His creatures? When we pollute the planet, we aren't being pro-life. :(

Stereotype much?? "MOST?" Not sure how "abuse the earth" and "kill animals" necessarily fit together. We need to eat, and animals are meat. That is not abuse of the earth. Making lots of trash may be abuse of the earth, but we're all ears if you have any answers rather than religious barbs to cast. As a creature in God's creation and one who lives on this planet, I do what I can. What do you do as a pagan that is so noteworthy?

What? You seem to forget that in the Old Testament days most of the patriarchs like Abraham, moses, Isaac, Noah, besides Adam and Eve and Abel knew all about taking care of animals and the welfare of the animals themselves. We can infer from this that this same kind of care was passed on in Jewish Tradition and in Christian behavior as well.
People accuse Christian extremists but really I have yet to meet one. What is that all about?
Anyway Christians are called to be stewards of the earth as well and not wasteful. When Jesus fed the 5,000 he had his disciples pick up th leftovers. That kind of meticulous care by the God (yes Jesus was God in the flesh) and was instilled into his disciples.
Sorry I only understand from the Christian perspective. i cannot speak for Muslims.

As Liu Kang said in Mortal Kombat,"EVERY man (and woman) is responsible for his(her) own destiny." The reason for the problems on this earth (the ones you mentioned), is man himself. Another thing that y'all should know, not all christians are "good". Some christians are still so set in their ways that they won't believe anything else you tell them. The mind is like a parachute, works better when opened.

Aesity means self-existence. Aesity explains the metaphysical nature of God as a purely self-existent being that exists in complete actuality. God is not a being that is created by another god; neither does God create himself into existence. Rather, God has always existed as an unchanging, completely actualized being.
God has his Being of himself and to himself such that he is Absolute being and the definition of existence.
Since God’s essence is his nature and God’s existence is the same as his essence it follows that God is existence.

I'm not sure. I wish they would take the whole Biblical "Stewards of the Earth" thing more seriously, because the Bible says they are to take care of it. I know there are a couple Christian environmental groups. I wish more people would join them.
