I didn't know fundies had gotten so desperate for converts.
Of course, you do realize that you can not force someone to believe as you do.
I'd say Yes to avoid being shot and then continue to not believe.

J.P. are you serious?! I feel for you, I've been shot at too, by gang members with tattoos of the virgin mary proudly displayed! I still say I'll lie to save my skin, but if there is a god, he'll know why I lied & forgive. If there is a god. Which I doubt.
All praise Doubting Thomas, for he/she shall have the scales removed from his/her eyes & see the truth! No one really knows any better than anyone else! Ha ha! *drink*

I'd say I believe in god. There is no harm in saying that to save your own life. That is what many people did during the 2000 years of forced conversions. So why stop now?

I've been in that situation, for real.

A guy pulls a gun on me and aims it at my face after overhearing that I'm an atheist, and asks if I believe in God now. I corrected the guy's aim (it was horrible, it wouldn't have killed, and I didn't want to endure months of reconstructive surgery) and told him that I didn't believe in any deity so weak as to be contained in a small bit of copper and lead.

At that, he pulled the gun back, gave me this confused look, and walked away.

As for me, I watched him leave, and once he was out of sight, I turned the corner and got lost ina crowd so he couldn't follow me.

If someone said "say you believe in God or I will shoot you!" then yes I would. And then I would get them charged, jailed, and then meet them in jail - it is wrong to conceal the truth, so I would go there to apologise about lying and pretending to believe in God.

For what it is worth, locking up those who intend to harm humans is far more important than than pretenses of ideological conviction.

I wouldn't trust somebody that would do that in the first place. So my answer would be the truth. Not for the sake of the truth, but because I'd have no clue of his true intentions and would therefore not try to be deceptive. No reason to lie and possibly make things more difficult for myself.

What r u trying to prove??

imagine an atheist comes to u and ask u if you believe in God and had gun to your head and ask u if u believe in God? if u say yes the person will shoot u in the head

Quran chapter 2 verse 256
Let there be no compulsion in religion. Truth stands out clear from Error; whoever rejects Evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things. (256)

why you can't prove god exists so you have to put a gun to someones head to agree with something that retarded.
But more to the point, scaring someone won't change their convictions, your average person would only lie, I would what would it do if I did and I lived, that wouldn't be any triumph for you, you wouldn't know I what I said was true, well I guess you you would have to rely on well... your faith, cause that is the only thing you have to go on, isn't it?

I would realise the person was deranged and say yes.
This is the way that most religions were spread so it would come as no surprise.
But a promise extracted under duress is meaningless

I'd say no and be dead. I'm not going to compromise my belief because of a threat.

Christians say there is a god to keep from burning in hell. I'm not like that.
