It is always better to be higher than the Deer, so a tree stand is of course always the best option. The ground blind is the next best thing and can be just as productive if you locate it correctly. When hunting from a ground blind you have to be sure and use vegetation that matches your surroundings and is fresh cut. (Use a small hand saw instead of a knife...Less noise) Use a good cover scent to cover your human odors, and wear a decent set of camouflage clothing that also matches the surrounding vegetation. You will be on the same level as the approaching Deer so you will not have the advantage of seeing them approach from a distance. They will easily spot any movements you make as they approach so you will need to be ready to shoot on short notice, but with a minimum of movement as you prepare to take your shot. Build your ground blind with 10 yards of a heavily traveled and used Deer trail and if possible, build your ground blind down wind from "intersecting" trails. This will increase you chances of success greatly, and you will see more Deer. Just keep in mind the two main things that will get you "busted" by a Deer approaching with be "scent" and "movement"..If you concentrate on taking care of these you are already half way to success, all you will need will be the opportunity to take a shot. Good Luck!

It is effective, but typically not as effective as from a stand. Ground blinds are good if planned correctly but unless you do something to cover your scent, you will have quite a bit of trouble getting a deer. I recommend using Hunter Specialties Fresh Earth Scent. It comes in a spray bottle and I just spray my clothes the night before, and then again after getting out of the car in the morning before walking to the stand. I have been walking to my stand in the afternoon and had 2 dogs walking through the woods and came within 10 feet of the path that I was walking on and had no clue I was there. All I did is stood still and they never even smelled my human scent. Placement and scent are the two factors you will need to think about for a ground blind. The best spot is where there are a few fallen trees where you could find some natural cover and you can add your ground blind for extra cover.

Yes, very effective. I bowhunt both from treestand and ground blind. If it is a place that you hunt often, set up your blind a few days prior to the hunt so that the deer get used to it. Think of the woods as a deers living room. If you walk into your livingroom and your wife has bought a new lamp, chances are that you will notice as soon as you walk in but after seeing it for a few days you will pay no attention. Deer are the same way. Just be sure and watch your scent and if the wind is wrong dont hunt it. Everytime you sit there and you spook deer for whatever reason all you are doing is educating them. Also, wear black and keep all windows closed except for the one that you plan to shoot from. Dont be putting your face up to the window because they will see you. go buy a ninja mask from the double bull website its worth the money. And finally, please dont shoot expandable broadheads through the shootthrough windows, use a good fixed blade. I use stinger buzzcuts. Go send a pocket rocket through one for me. P.S. dont waste your money on one of them squeky swivel seats, go buy you a black five gallon bucket and sit on that.

I prefer a treestand vs ground blind, but that is only preference. It can and is very effective to hunt from the ground. It's more challenging by far

looking from the floor might properly be very problematic. confirm you stumble on the section/ trails that pastime you the main. From their attempt to discover a clearing this is off the course yet nevertheless on your variety. So maximum peoples first and maximum mushy pin is the twenty backyard pin, stay around 25 to 30 yards away. as quickly as a aim in drawing close, do no longer pull decrease back till they're on the circulate, looking away, or you're blocked via a tree, in order that they don’t see the circulate of you pulling decrease back the string. that is going to shop you hidden long adequate to get a shot waiting, as quickly as you have a sparkling shot, squeeze… floor looking is complicated and intensely excessive, determine you administration your emotions and do each and every thing in a peaceful trend.

You're taking a very short range weapon and limiting it even further by sticking it in a fixed position with finite kill zones. You *could* get a deer if it came by, but it's god-awful unlikely that you'll find the right spot to set up your blind to do it.
