People die of starvation in this country do, and not much is being done to stop that. This i not a religious problem to solve, this is a world wide people of every nation needs to get involved to solve. It's great to send food to third world countries but leave the preaching and converting out, teach them to farm the lands to grow the foods.
Here in this country, you have to go thru a 30 minute sermon to get something to eat in a soup kitchen. There is a passage in the Bible that commands that all deeds be done in secret, not to boast or brag. Like the mad canadian boasting about world vision.

Poverty in Africa and South America will not be eradicated until the governments in those countries decide that the problem needs to be efficiently addressed, and start to provide services, resources, education and opportunities for their own citizens.
These problems are not the fault of the Catholic church.
Poverty exists all over the world, not just there...and in other areas of the world Catholicism is not a strong influence, so who would you blame?
You are just Catholic bashing.

I wasn't aware it was the Catholic churches job to eradicate poverty anywhere. The Catholic Church is a religon, Yes it does humanitarian work, but so do many, many religons and organizations. The Catholic Church can only do what it can with what it has. Maybe the governments of these countries should stop stealing from their people and allowing drug dealers and private militaries to rape their country.
Eradicating poverty is not the job of the catholic church.

There are not thousands of people dying each day in these country's who told you that ? You should visit them yourself and see the wonderful work they do. A lot more than these huge money driven Americans churches do for there homeless families and people. The Mick's go out every night here and feed the homeless and give clothes and blankets, phone cards to homeless runaway youth. Mick's never preach to you or ask to join there church they assist many homeless youth off the streets.

What are YOU doing to erradicate poverty from Africa and South America?
All Christian churches support World Vision, the largest poverty relief organization on earth. And it happens to be Christian.
Don't criticize the Church until you have the largest relief organization on earth. Then we'll talk.

Here is a link to the Catholic Relief Services website. It is the primary organization of American Catholics providing developmental and emergency assistance to developing nations.
There are other Catholic organizations doing similar work from all over the world. This is just one nation's contribution for you to see.

Nobody is doing enough. Don't just blame the Catholic church.
What are you doing to help?
What about poverty in America? Children in the Land of Plenty are going to bed hungry tonight.

"Whatever they are doing is not enough because thousands and thousands of people die everyday."
So... with enough effort they are supposed to stop death itself? Eradicate poverty which even Jesus is said to have described as something humanity will always have?
I think you are volunteering your life for service, my friend...

Catholic church and charities feed and clothe, and provide shelter and give medicine and health care to millions of people world wide.
Why are you just questioning what the Catholic Church does to help third world countries? What about the protestant churches???

The Church is doing more that any government or group on earth. Unfortunately the poor will always be among us but even among them there are those who are rich in spirit and have stored their treasures in heaven.
