Who's bright idea was it for Denny Hamlin not to re-fuel? Didn't his team know he wouldn't finish the race if there was no fuel in his car?

Guess we find out now that he had plenty of water soaked fuel in his cell... All the Denny haters that posted on how dumb he was can eat crow now.

I love how a lot of people are blaming Denny Hamlin for this. I blame Mike Ford, his crew chief, and whoever calculates the fuel mileage. Denny was told that he had enough fuel to make it through to the end. It's not Hamlin's job to sit in the car and calculate the fuel left in his car. That's a few members of his crew.

Someone needs to go back and learn how to calculate fuel mileage better!

Added: And the last thing I heard was that there WASN'T water in Hamlin's fuel.

I saw on jayski.com that they are reporting that Hamlin, Blaney, and possibly Biffle all had water in their fuel, although they are not to sure how it got there. I wonder if the #11 team had enough fuel but having water in the system caused the car to sputter which caused the wreck.

I think that they thought they had enough fuel left and that they could possibly win the race, but they didnt have enough fuel so they stalled, but I think it was the crew chiefs, and the calculations could have been wrong, so that could have made them assume with enough caution laps they could have thought they would have made it to the end and if they ran out they could coast in neutral the rest of the way.

They were trying to win the race, you can't blame them for that. Mike Ford wouldn't have tried if he didn't think that they could make it. And apparently Denny had water in his fuel tank.

A definite gamble that did not pay off thats for sure..He probably had enough fuel....but these cars don't run on water..Hey I thought there was a drought in GA...Water and Gas don't mix....Bad gamble....I feel bad for Truax Jr.. Totally a dumb call....

...Gambling I guess. The fuel probably left the rear right of the tank causing it to stall at just the wrong time on take off.

...Since my original statement it has been reported that several drivers had water in their fuel.

I heard a few drivers saying they believed they had water in the fuel...
its a shame that this happened... he had a chance to win.
