First of all, let me say that I am a Catholic and consider myself devout, though I do not attend church regularly.
However, given the kinds of questions I keep seeing people ask here in Yahoo Answers, I begin to think that the most harmful thing we can do to our children's development of faith is to allow them to read the Bible.
I have seen the Bible be used here in YA to preach so much ignorance, overly-literal thinking, and blind, unquestioning thought, that it horrifies me.
I think the best way to teach your children about God is to love them and to teach them to love others.
I think they shouldn't be allowed to read the Bible until they are mature enough to be taught the history of its authorship and compilation, and are clear-thinking enough to be able to question its teachings without resenting them, as well as clear-thinking enough to judge for themselves which teachings are of merit and which aren't.
And then, they should be encouraged to read the writing of people like Thomas Aquinas, Angela of Foligno, Julian of Norwich, and others.
But only after they are mature enough for it.

If God is Mariah Carey, then who is it that SHE believes is God, because she surely DOES believe in THE Lord Almighty!
Besides, if she is god, then I'm Queen Latifa... and I surely ain't HER!
Have a blessed day.

Just let them experience the goodness and the beauty of God through you and creation. This means everything that theology has been trying to explain for years in seminaries and convents.

Nail them up to a post for a few hours. They'll get the idea.

I personally don't like her, I think she's superficial and flawed...she's got chipmunk cheeks - and not the cute kind.
