...It seens like during the race there are so many commercials. Could they air more of those commercials during the prerace show and once the race starts then cover more of the race?

Thats a great question, I would like to see that happen. I bet most of the companies that put their commericals on there want it seen during the race. I watch most of the race on Direct Tv's Hot Pass, there are no commercials on there.

How many people do you know actually sit to watch the prerace shows as compared to the actual race?? Commercials cost a lot of money because they're supposed to reach a wider audience, which is why you get the better/more expensive/more frequent commercials during the race than you do in prerace.

I watch the pre-race show...I start my morning w/Speed channel and then switch to the channel that has the race on for there pre race. As for the ads well if there is a wreck they'll drop the ad and put the race back on... Some channel (I can't remember) actually tried puting the race on one side of the screen and the ad running on the other side. I thought that was good but of course they stopped.... I wish they'd show more of the pre-race stuff that happens at the track!

I do believe that the commercial thing is created by what NA$CAR wants for us to view their product. It has nothing to do with what channel is showing the race. There placing of the commercial is placed in the areas where there will be more people watching to hit the wider viewer market.
Personally I think with every car having a one big sponsor's add on there car should amount for some on air time. I know where that money goes but it would be nice. I guess I would blame NA$CAR for the over charge.

That would be nice since I don't watch the pre race show but I'm sure the network gets more money per minute during the race from the advertisers. The problem is Nascar should have negotiated fewer commercials in their TV package and maybe took a little less money. Everyone gets less when ratings drop.

ABC is terrible. It seems they televise more commercials than the race. I don't watch much anymore. I just can't follow the ABC coverage.
