I've been talking to a friend. He's a strong Christian, and we somehow ended up discussing his strong devotion to God. Upon hearing that I'm an atheist, he didn't subject me to a lecture; just one line; he said:

"God responds in ways that are difficult to hear. Listen to your heart."

So.. God's making pounding noises?!?

Uh-oh...does that mean I made God angry?

CRAP...

It sounds to me like God has brought the two of you together for a reason. God uses Christians to witness to their friends about Christ and His love. It is commendable that he did not lecture you. I think this shows that he knows he cannot force you to believe something, but he is allowing God's Holy Spirit to take what he's said and reveal the truth to you in His way and in His time.

Hello there:)

Man basically has two " hearts"
One is the physical the other is psychological. This is the heart that is made as the Loving organ:)
All that other one you referenced is pump the important blood around and keeps us alive right!

I believe that your friend, because he feels so strongly devoted and loves the Lord told you something that was actually the deeptest truth.

Believing in God is not in the realm of the touchable or even in the realm of the logical. But we know from existing on this earth that there are some very real matters that are unexplainable and unseen. A simple thing like the power of the human love for another.

He said that " God responds in ways that are difficult to hear. Listen to your heart".

Sometimes the heart is the only part of us that can actually have ears to hear. The logic and reasoning in our minds sometimes serve to block out any thing that to it, does not seem " logical or reasonable".

Because God is unseen to the naked eye , He too also relates to the "unseen" parts of our being. Since too, He made this heart as a loving Organ .. this psychological heart, its where He would try to get a response from us by speaking something of Himself to us. Things like.." What if I DO actually exist?" " There is more to this life that meets the eye"

He does not make pounding noises:) The only one making " roaring noises" is God's enemy and adversary satan. He is described as a roaring lion.. seeking someone to devour. He devours us in so many ways.. With deceit, with twisted, out of context statements....this very one, satan has been studying man since Adam and Eve. He is crafty and even after only a little while after man was created was able to ensnare and usurp this man and pull him away from the God who loved Him and created him.

So dear.. No one can tell anyone what to believe or think. THe most we can do is present something of the Lord to you and it is up to you if you will have an opening in your heart to receive anything of God. Its always scary and a bit intimidating to trust the unseen. But most of what is real takes place there.

Look at you as a human being. You have a physical body that everyone who knows you can see. But is this physical body the sum total of who you are? Its not.. the real you lies beyond this physical body and realm. And this part truly defines who you are. The physical body just carries out what is deeply going on in your being:)

Its the same with God.
Many have tried to " represent" Him and wind up " misrepresenting " Him, thus giving so many a negative impression of Who He truly is.
Best thing is to go directly to the source. And since Both you and God have an unseen aspect and facet then its not so hard to communicate.

God is Spirit and He purposely made man with a spirit deep within him to be able to contact and communicate with Him. This is the" ear" in your inner being. The part of you that will readilly be able to substantiate and lay hold of WHO God is.

So i put this to you dear. Activate that" ear" :)
By calling upon the name of Jesus, and believing in Your heart that He loves you and died for you and desires to have a relationship that transcends everything you have seen and heard about Him, will be a way to revive and enliven your spirit. This is the real hearing. Not only will God respond.. but you will respond and discover that God is not what everyone made Him out to be. He is a rewarder to those who diligently seek Him.

:)

Hope that this gives you a little to think about. I know it did for me by just writing it. Makes me stop and wonder how I " represent " the Lord before otheres. May the Lord have mercy on me and all my brothers and sisters:)

In CHrist
sandy

Your friend was not meaning to listen to your physical heart, but to listen with your "inner heart". That part of us that TELLS us that GOD is THERE, He is as REAL as everything you see.

Listening requires one to take time to be QUIET. Just ASK God for yourself "God if you are real, show me". That is one question He WILL delight to answer. You have to be looking, but God will answer.

Sweetie, I agree that you ought to listen to your heart. God calls us thru love, and that love manifests itself in our hearts. The Lord is trying to reach out to you. Why not give Him a chance? He is giving you a chance, and He does love you dearly. You have not made God angry.........just listen for His Voice speaking to you, calling you into His Presence. He is such a wonderful God.

God loves you no matter what. But He will not change His Word for you. Get to know what He is about.

God can use broken pieces.
