.. dont bother running.. instead skip ropes. the best way in building up your kicking power is to keep kicking the bag build up your form and power, dont even bother with the bottles either, that just screws up your nerves, so YOU wont feel pain when you kick, so when your actually hurt, you wont knwo because the nerves in your legs are screwed up.
wow bourgoise_10o you are so stubborn, just because alot of people do it does not make it safe or correct. you don't want to kill nerves(rolling bottles on shins), you do want to harden, or rather thicken, your shins. Your bones get thicker when subjected to proper stimulus (impact). You are not trying to avoid pain (rolling bottles on shins), if you were you wouldn't be a kickboxer, you are trying to avoid breaking your shins. Hitting a heavy bag consistently will make them thicker. We have nerves for a reason... if they were of no use they would have died out over the course of evolution.
the reason for kicking a heavy punchbag/sandbag, is that the density of the shin bone is increased, instead of the nerves being killed off.

bourgoise_10o id advise you to stfu and refrain from coming into the martial art's section of yahoo answers

Keep kicking the heavy bag to increase power and also continue to numb the nerves sensitivity to the impact. also get a rolling pin and roll it up and down your shins to further kill the topical nerves that are the ones that sense the pain.
For strength HORSE STANCE! Builds strength, stamina and balance all at the same time.
Start and build in 30 sec. intervals until you get stronger then build 1 min. at a time. Should be able to do 10 mins in that stance after a few months.

actually, anyone who gets their shins kicked would really feel lots of pain, after all the shin part has less protection (thin layers of fats and muscles) than the other parts of the body...
plus, having thin legs-with less friction, your legs quickly gain momentum and power when u kick (just plain physics..)
anyways, leg exercises (like leg press)would most definitely strengthen your legs..and jogging would increase your legs' endurance (plus your whole body also.=) )
*u could also try adding weights to your legs while practicing kicking (kinda like Rock Lee in Naruto...)

Yea, you probably shouldn't be kicking someone in their shin and thighs, but if they are blocking with them then thats their dumb luck. My guess is that since your legs are so skinny its the fact that your shin bone is not covered by a lot of flesh and that means that when you kick they are getting the full effect of the shin bone. The same thing happens for instance when a thiner in your class blocks with her forearm. You get that zinger in whatever part of the body you were trying to hit with.
Its just me but I wouldn't run. Its a lot of pounding on your joints. I'd recomend swiming ( its great for the legs, the whole body and stamina ), biking and weight training at the gym. That last one is the one that I personally hate the most but truth be told it is effective.
Have fun and I hope that you acheive what you are trying to do.

First, don't kick peoples shins. Next run a lot. It's really the best exercise, especially for your legs.

i am going on the assumption that you are doing thai kicks
if so i dunno if I would listen to kung fu since thai boxers from thailand do kick to deaden their nerves, and you do need to deaden your nerves a bit or you will be on the ground in pain everytime you kick or throw a block
