I know you’re probably sick of me asking these questions about Halloween, but I was thinking, maybe I’d feel better about letting my kids go out trick or treating if I knew that October 31 was cleansed, like a sin during confession. Do you know if that’s ever happened? And if it has, what info can you give me on it?

Like Christmas being celebrated as Christ's birth date, as well as being rooted in pagan celebrations, October 31st has two dates which it celebrates.
All Souls Day is a feast of the Catholic Church, honoring the deceased souls of the church.
It also has developed into a celebration of the dead among the darker side of the spirit realm. THIS is what Halloween celebrates. As such, it has never been cleansed, and to send your little kids dressed up as part of this Satanic holiday is to teach them that Satan is part of a fun day.
Witches, Jack-O-Lanterns, black cats, costumes, and all the trimmings are part of the ritual. Google Halloween and check out a few links.
You are already feeling guilty about sending your kids out on one of Satan's holidays....keep them home; find another activity; anything, but do something.
If you believe Jesus and God are real, then you should also consider that Satan is just a as real.

Catholics are Christians. The original Christians. There were no other kind until Martin Luther. The word catholic (little c) means "universal". That's why its called the catholic church. It was universal. And it still is in its own right.
Let your kids go trick or treating. There is no harm in it as long as everything is done in fun. My parents are devout Christians. My mom even used to think the Beatles were devil music. But I always got to got trick or treating. Because the only thing it was ever about was dressing up and getting candy.

i don't look after Halloween, different than whilst very sons and daughters come to my door with their dad and mom. everyone sufficiently old to be on Yahoo is basically too old to be trick or treating. In our state while you're a registered baby predator, you will possibly desire to positioned a demonstration on your door saying which you're actually not giving out treats. What approximately people who're not registered and don't have symptoms and indicators? each Halloween teenagers take their treats to the scientific institution and get them x-rayed for razor blades and different such issues. loose candy basically isn't worth that to me. 0.5 of that's junk and without delay thrown away. If teenagers want to pass to a supervised occasion that's positive, yet begging on the door of a stranger is plenty previous being a stable time in lots of communities. Our interior of sight dentists assemble all of the candy from any little ones who want to furnish it away, and that they pay the youngster a greenback according to pound. maximum youngsters desire the money to the sugar.

It is a day of the year. It didn't need cleansing and it never will. So what if pagans decided it was some sort of day for them. It doesn't mean anything. God made that day. It belongs to Him and He isn't going to be mad if you let your kids dress up and go out to get some free candy. Don't make the mistake of taking God so seriously that you don't realize His huge sense of humor.

You are suffering from "I let people tell me what things mean" syndrome! A girl at my work tried to tell me that Christmas Trees were a form of pagan worship. I told her that there is nothing pagan about a Christmas tree in my house because I am not a pagan nor do I worship trees! The Christmas tree in my house represents the newness of life found in the Saviour and the evergreen represents the everlasting life we will spend with our Lord in eternity. We decorate the tree with ornaments to symbolize the majestic quality of our salvation...but that's just me. I can't answer for everyone. But I'll be damned if I'm going to let some religious fanatic tell me what things mean to me. So, to you I say, screw what people say about Halloween and enjoy it for the simple innocent fun that it is. Don't let people who take life too seriously and find evil in every little thing tell you what to do. What is Halloween to you? That's what matters. Trick or treat!!!! Buy a pumpkin, have fun carving a face on it, and lighten up! Life will be far more enjoyable for you if you do.

Just because a religious leader may say a prayer (or somesuch) over an event, building or practice does not make it something holy or acceptable.
The Bible makes it clear that we are not supposed to share from the cup of God and the devil. We're supposed to hate what God hates and love what he loves.
Halloween is a pagan practice and in no way glorifies God.
Good question.

Halloween is actually like Christmas Eve. The night before a Christian holy day.
It is the eve of All Saint's Day or All Hallows Eve or Halloween. Just like "hallowed be Thy name."
But just like Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday), Halloween has taken on a life of its own.
Christians including Catholics do not fear death, evil, or Satan. In Christ, we can laugh in the face of death.
From an email I received: Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside, and scoops out all the yucky stuff--including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see.
And finally, Halloween is fun. Create your own Jack-o-Lantern: http://www.coasttocoastam.com/timages/page/pumpkin_sim.html
With love in Christ.

Can I ask you a question?
If you have to somehow 'feel better about letting (your) kids go out trick or treating', why do you not want to trust your gut instincts?
There are ALL kinds of reasons to support your gut on this one and they aren't necessarily 'religious' reasons!
ie...My daughter doesn't get sugar...so why should I dress her up to go ask for something that I'm not going to let her eat?

First off, Catholics are Christians. Don't separate them. Secondly, get over it. If you are bringing your kids up right and teaching them what they need to know, going trick or treating on Halloween is NOT going to harm them. Quit obsessing over it.

Hallowe'en is harmless amusement for children - or it was, until some fanatical people started this business about 'pagan practices' and 'devil worship'. The day is just a day - nothing evil about it. Go ahead - enjoy.
