I have asked a question about this before: For as long as I remember I have suffered from horrible, horrible canker sores. Also, I have NO energy. I am exhausted, I am constantly fatigued. After I eat, I get really hyper. Then crash. I get migraines that last all day. I'm only 15, I don't think this should be happening!

So what I am asking is this: My mom thinks that I have an allergy to wheat. I looked up Celiac disease, my friend has it, and it says that some people have chronic symptoms, others go unnoticed. Can I be allergic to wheat without having Celiac? Or could this be Celiac disease? I sometimes have really bad stomach problems, but not as often as I used to. Also, when I eat, even just a small amount, my stomach bloats so big, a woman thought I was pregnant!!

I am going on a gluten free diet for a while to try to see if it helps with my headaches...but what does this sound like?

You are describing some of the most common symptoms of Celiac Disease (CD).

Fatigue, canker sores (apthous ulcers), headaches/migraines, acid reflux and/or indigestion and bloating are very common with CD.

You can be allergic to wheat without having full-blown CD. However, you sound like a 'true celiac' patient.

It would be wise to get tested (a simple blood test can be done to determine if you are likely a celiac patient). If you follow a true gluten-free diet, then get testing, the tests results will be negative (a false negative).

Please take this possible diagnosis very seriously; the long-term consequences of un-treated CD are very dangerous. Get tested - then try a gluten-free diet.

Best wishes and good luck.

I agree, it sounds like celiac to me as well, and you should try and get a diagnosis. Problem is, you have to keep on eating the stuff for the tests to work properly.

If you just want to try going gluten free for a few weeks and see if that makes things better, don't forget that gluten is hidden in a lot of places where you would not expect it. This article: gives you a list of many of them: http://www.glutenfreedietbook.com/articles/10.html

Is there anyone else in your family that has celiac? If so, then it is even more likely that that is what you have.
