Where is the college fund for citizens who have been here and did it the right way? Sure I want my tax dollars to pay for an illegal to go to school for free while I am a born citizen who works for a living and I get nothing. While the govt is giving illegals money for school, and affirmative action to other minorities, one has to wonder, who are we being racist to??

People don't have an 'equal' right to be here, only those who came legally do. Those who didn't and went through school here have already received education at $10,000 per child per year, at the expense of programs cut across the board for our own children. There is NOTHING owing to them.
That said I might have been able to support a properly tailored Dream act ONLY for those who came prior to 5 years ago (not a ROLLING 5 year period applying to those not here yet) those 25 or under, and those with good grades in high school who are going to college. The caveats, extensions to age 30 and WAIVERS of longstanding immigration exclusions for poor moral character and crime on the basis of family unity etc were complete non-starters.
We are disgusted with our Congress which pretends it is doing something limited and tries to crowbar as much 'hidden population' in as possible, including the VERY ones we'd want most to keep out, such as gang members and criminals.
Personally, I think BOTH sides in congress wanted the issue more than a solution.

NO, to the Dream Act! You know you are here illegally and you are sitting around waiting for OUR president to give you legal status so you can stay instead of working to make yourself legal. And you believe this makes you a person worthy of amnesty? IF you are stuck at the moment of graduating you have no one to blame but your parents and yourself. It is this sense of entitlement that pisses off Americans. "I'm illegal, but I'm not going to do anything to fix my status, I am going to stay here and wait for your Gov to do it for me." This country is not your home whatever country your parents came from is your home. It is US taxpayers who have paid for your education, the streets you drive on, the school bus you rode on, the school supplies you used, I am really surprised you didn't think about using your excellent education in your own country to better it for you and your people. Think of the satisfaction you will get bringing your country up to a greater level.

Not doing anything wrong? By the very nature of someone being in this country illegally that is wrong. Hence, the word "illegal" which means not legal. We have laws for a reason. Those laws protect innocent citizens and keep our nation from becoming a chaotic mess. There is a reason that laws regarding illegal immigration are in place. To allow unregulated mass migration to any nation is to commit suicide. The majority of Americans love their country deeply, we work hard to make something for ourselves and our families. To have our tax dollars given to people who broke federal law and demand benefits they do not deserve does not sit well with many Americans. I won't not look for the Dream Act to pass. The American people spoke up not once but three times to see it defeated. Their resolve is no less now than when the Dream Act was defeated the first time.

Last time I checked the "Indians" did not have a formal government when the British came, nor did they have an immigration policy. No, I don't agree with taking something just because there is no law, but that is the actual history.
The fact of the matter is, regardless of how you came here you are here illegally. I am not against immigrants, I welcome all immigrants that come here legally. If you don't want to hold an illegal immigrant accountable for coming here illegally, would you consider criminal if they used my SSN. I know if I used another persons SSN, I would be charged with felony identity theft. But you never here of illegals being charged with that.
Also, I will speak only for me, illegal immigration has nothing to do with race. As of of the minority races here in the US. I don't care if you are french, mexican, canadian, whatever, don't come here illegally.

Illegal Immigration is a Crime
Illegal Immigration Is Not A Victimless Crime
Apologists for illegal immigration try to paint it as a victimless crime, but the fact is that illegal immigration causes substantial harm to American citizens and legal immigrants, particularly those in the most vulnerable sectors of our population — the poor, minorities, and children.
Illegal immigration causes an enormous drain on public funds. The seminal study of the costs of immigration by the National Academy of Sciences found that the taxes paid by immigrants do not begin to cover the cost of services received by them. The quality of education, health care and other services for Americans are undermined by the needs of endless numbers of poor, unskilled illegal entrants.
Additionally, job competition by waves of illegal immigrants desperate for any job unfairly depresses the wages and working conditions offered to American workers, hitting hardest at minority workers and those without high school degrees.
Illegal Immigration Undermines National Security
While most illegal immigrants may come only to seek work and a better economic opportunity, their presence outside the law furnishes an opportunity for terrorists to blend into the same shadows while they target the American public for their terrorist crimes. Some people advocate giving illegal aliens legal status to bring them out of the shadows, but, if we accommodate illegal immigration by offering legal status, this will be seen abroad as a message that we condone illegal immigration, and we will forever be faced with the problem.
((Immigration and Nationality Act Section 237 (a)(1)(B) which says: "Any alien who is present in the United States in violation of this Act or any other law of the United States is deportable." ))

The British did not come here illegally. They, in fact, came here will the full consent of their government and in a time when there were no laws in the Americas saying they couldn't.
What kills me is that you want to be equal, but only as long as it benefits you. I was born in this country, so I never had to worry about this situation. But my great-grand parents were born in Ireland. They wanted freedom and a better life and all that nonsense. So you know what they did? They paid for a boat, rode it over and WENT THROUGH THE NATURALIZATION PROCESS.
I'd just also like to say that comparing yourself to black people is a huge stretch. Your family CHOSE to come here. I'm sure there are many black people who can't say the same about their ancestors. So in my opinion they definately had more of a reason to be pissed.

Simple: illegals have no business being in this country. They have no rights, no say in what happens, no anything. Plus, most Americans will not let this Act pass (and for good reason).

Because, as you can see by the comments your getting, there is an overwhelming majority that live in this country with severe entitlement complex. Most of them are WASP but not all of them. But they run the country. They hide their selfishness and lack of compassion behind the idea that
"illegals" are here illegitimately and criminally so "send them back" these are also the same people who aren't even willing to figure out how to help these people. Never mind that if all the illegals left tomorrow, our economy would experience an incredible recession on borderline depressive levels. They don't care. Despite the fact that this country was built on imperialism and greed of all sorts. Or the fact that immigrants came to this country and killed the natives. Nope they won't hear that. Everything you say only feeds their confirmation bias--so that they will not listen to you.
Now, I do agree the borders need to be strengthened and there needs to be a system in which this situation equalizes but there exist this hatred in America--this xenophobia, that in all honesty is America's original sin (If you will) and they can't see past their dislike for anything unlike the status quo. Trust me, this same issue has occurred with every major empire throughout time. And what happened to those empires?
Don't get me wrong, America is a great place, but the reason we are losing are appeal with the rest of the world is because most of the people in this country think like the majority of the people who've left you comments on this question. Good question by the way.

Another one who needs to learn the laws of this country, and read up on history.
We don't want our tax dollars to fund MORE opportunities for illegals. They get way too much already. No Dream Act, No Amnesty.
