Evolutionists are so quick to defend their theory as "science" and not a religion or belief. So why are there so many evolution questions in the religion section? Why not post them all in the science section? Just curious. :)

lol, interesting answers thus far. Being one of those so-called "stupid Christians" and being uneducated such as it were, I feel I must lean towards the thought of evolution as more of a religion than a scientific fact. Just wondered what everyone elses views were. :)

Christians ask most of the evolution questions. Many Christians are under the misguided idea that evolution is the flip side to creationism. Evolution is not about the beginning of life, it is about how life changed over time through mutation and natural selection.
Evolution is a scientific theory...which is different than what most people think a theory is. A scientific theory is an explanation or model based on observation, experimentation, and reasoning, especially one that has been tested and confirmed as a general principle helping to explain and predict natural phenomena.
Any scientific theory must be based on a careful and rational examination of the facts. A clear distinction needs to be made between facts (things which can be observed and/or measured) and theories (explanations which correlate and interpret the facts.
Creationists refuse to subject their "theories" to peer reviews, because they know they don't fit the facts. The creationist mindset is distorted by the concept of "good science" (creationism) vs. "bad science" (anything not in agreement with creationism). Creation "scientists" are biblical fundamentalists who can not accept anything contrary to their sectarian religioius beliefs.

Er, it's the creationists posting those questions. Hadn't you noticed?
Of course evolution is science, and evolution is in fact true. It is the reason why there is the current variety of species, and in fact the current organisms were not "created" in their current form but rather evolved from earlier forms. There is no serious dispute over those facts.

"Being one of those so-called "stupid Christians" and being uneducated such as it were, I feel I must lean towards the thought of evolution as more of a religion than a scientific fact."
But of course you're only saying that because you want it to be true, so that you don't have to change your beliefs. It is, of course, false.
Wouldn't you rather be honest than consistent? There's really nothing wrong with changing your mind, and since you're dead wrong about this, it would be the honest thing to do. Surely it's not so scary that you can't manage it.

Obviously the science section is where biology questions should be posted, and evolution is plain and simple biology. But some misinformed fundamentalist Christians have religious beliefs that contradict the well-supported findings of science, and since they are certain their biblical interpretations are infallible, the fact that they conflict with reality can only mean one thing - reality must be wrong! Sad, really. Of course their biblical interpretations also conflict with the biblical interpretations of millions of other Christians, but that doesn't matter, for they alone are infallible.

Most of the evolution questions I've seen have been asked by christians. And I wasn't aware that the deciding factor on whether something is considered science or religion is what section of this forum the most questions about it are asked

The attacks are in the religious (not spiritual) responses. It's the religion and spirituality section.
Theists, especially Christians, seem to claim some sort of ownership. Bull. There is very little spirituality in most religion, especially Christianity.
Besides, I hang out in "Society and Culture". not R&S.
Why are you there?

Most of the questions are posted here by Xians trying to use their pseudoscience to disprove evolution.
Very few evolution questions posted here are by evolutionists.

It's basic stuff here. There's no debate about evolution over in biology. There are subtle details.
Here's an example:

I'll spare you the details of discussions of the mechanisms that take place over there.

Most evolution questions I see out here are posted by christians trying vainly to refute the proven theory of evolution. (go look uo what a theory is in scientific terms)
