or do i buy them that day? I'm planing a trip to NY and I've always wanted to see the statue of liberty, I don't want to wait for hours just to find out the ferries are full or something like that. Where can I buy the tickets?

You shouldn't have to buy ahead. There's a place that your concierge at your hotel will send you where you'll go through security screenings and pay for your tickets. It's pretty easily done, in spite of the security. Once you get to the island it's way cool! I know you'll love it!!!

Since most of the statue is not open since 9/11 no one goes any longer. There will be no line.

you can probably go to the website or a tourist website and find them there. i recently went and my friends bought them online. forgot what the website was though.
