A cough drop is a small, medicated candy intended to be dissolved slowly in the mouth to lubricate and soothe irritated tissues of the throat (usually due to a sore throat), possibly from the common cold or influenza.
Still other varieties contain little more than menthol or peppermint oil and spearmint as their active ingredient, further blurring the line between candy and coughdrops.
Most cough drops should be taken in moderation, due to the fact that some active ingredients could be hazardous to the health if consumed in large amounts.
So basically it depends, what kind of cough drops do you take.

The medication is not strong enough to cause any sort of overdose, they are however, overloaded in sugar - so take care of your teeth! Do they really taste that good? I never thought so.

I wouldn't recommend it. Your body could develop a tolerance to the active ingredients. Then, if you did have a cough or sore throat, the cough drops and any medications with the same ingredients would not be as effective.

i think it is. you're not sick, so there are no bacteria or viruses for the cough drops to kill. and if you're taking it when you're not sick, you're just making your self immune to the effects of the cough drops. so next time you got cough, you might need a stronger dose of medicine for it to have an effect on you. there is also this chance that you might develop a drug resistant strain of the virus/bacteria and it will be hard to kill.

I'm no expert or doctor but its probably not that great for you your body could react to it in multiple ways. I would stick to using them only when your sick.

It's bad. One is prone to habit formation which may cause addiction in large dosage.

well you can get addicted to the ones that have menthol in them. I personally like the Ludens cherry ones. They just have a lot of sugar. I dont think you would get any harm but it is a lot of unnecessary sugar.

They are loaded with sugar. It's about as healthy as eating candy. Eat them in moderation.
