Theories or probabilities why do you have such a hard time, as a whole on this site, with people that in effect are doing the same thing. Regardless of their fervent plea of being absolutely right, like many other schools of thought i.e. Newton, why do you feel it necessary to speak down to those that believes in a creator? And here is and idea for you just considers the omnipresent nature of God and Dark energy? You might be able to draw more than a few comparisons if you used an open scientific mind

Bula-without it all of our current Standard models of the universe fail. It is the reason why there continues to be expansion and an ever increasing rate.

neil - i give a strong probability that part of God's nature could be seen mathematically in exactly this way.

i vote- Can you hold the possibility that most if not all that you have been told about by humans could very well be wrong?

i vote - yes except for what has been medically confirmed to be true. However, the brain is a place that we know very little about other than redumentry atomical structure. we have more connections in our brains than there are stars in the universe. The mind is a entirley different subject of the freeky unknown.

Nobody really has any right to "speak down" to anybody of any belief just for the sake of their belief in something that is not absolutely certain. After all, even atheism takes faith. Good question. Starred. ;)
However, I have a hard time maintaining respect for somebody who claims that they can genuinely love a God that would torture any being capable of experiencing pain for eternity. As far as I'm concerned, they're either lying about the legitimacy of their love, they've done a FANTASTIC job of ignoring the facts or they are totally psychotic. Maybe my mind could be a little more open, but I really don't see any other way. Maybe you could enlighten me? (I hope I'm not coming off as an ***. It's definitely not intended)
What is your religion/belief/philosophy anyway? You don't say.
BTW...I like the idea of vacuum energy possibly being God more than dark matter. After all, dark matter has to exist in space. Wouldn't it make more sense that God is vacuum energy and dark matter is just one of his repulsive tools?

Edit: "Can you hold the possibility that most if not all that you have been told about by humans could very well be wrong?"
Absolutely. It's entirely possible that my life is simply a hallucination, but I have faith that it isn't, unless it can be proven otherwise. Just like I have faith that there is no God. So yes, I can accept that possibility. Again, for all I know, the world actually is flat. :) I've never actually been in space.

1) Talking down is the only way to reach the lowly. If they will give up all political influence, I for one will leave the "faithful" alone.
2) Relating God to dark matter is useful if you are not attached to the idea that your deity has a personality.
Edit: Mathematics was excluded from the first sixty years of the development of modern science, because it is not empirical (look it up). We still have no idea how math can be useful in the physical sciences, it simply is accepted since it does seem to work so well. We do not even know whether probabilistic figures are to be taken as ontological or merely epistemological, so they say nothing without further evidence.

God is imaginary. Reality is not. There are mountains of equations and horribly complicated funky math that explains reality. Three is nothing but a dusty collection of primitive Hebrew myths to support god.
Sorry but there is just no comparison. Give it up.
EDIT
i vote. Atheism does NOT take faith. We are born with no knowledge of god(s). It is a learned behavior, how can NOT adding a belief require faith? Totally illogical.
I did not say anything, but plenty of others have, see answer where I mention MOUNTAINS OF FREAKIN MATH.

again with the open mind.
There are approximately 2,500 gods that man believes/ed in.
www.godchecker.com
I guarantee you don't believe in 2,499 of them. Why is your mind so much more open than mine if I don;t believe in 2,500?
Plus, the god of the gaps is so juvenile. When you look thru history at phlogistin, humors, ether, etc... all the things man invented to explain the unexplainable. All of them were overturned and relegated to the dustbin of history after we got better data and analysis. Now we have "dark matter". You say that's where god is, y not?
Wouldn't u have felt awfully silly if u said that right b4 they discovered bacteria? plate tectonics? etc... Please, the god of the gaps is so passe.

Being in the food chain is out of the question for me... if that is what you are suggesting for the restlessness of your being.
Being human is only natural to look for a safety place to be with and fire is safe to be having it around. Welcome... and hope you'll be a Jedi soon. ;o)

Theories -- observation and testing.
God -- assertion.
While I do not discount God, there is no compelling evidence (see Russell's teapot).
