If you can cook, make him a his favorit dinner.
Take him to a game if he's a sports fan.
If he's a fan of something or has a hobby, get him something related to that hobby.

for his birthday/ christmas? what stuff he like? try a CD or get or buy him his fav dinner or lunch food, give him a good massage those are always good he prolly rather have you do it,

simple - give him something that relates to any one of his hobbies. No real way to give a bad gift if you go that way
