Deciding on a good project is actually part of the process. Interview some of your community leaders to find out what they think will improve your community. Speak with your Gold Award Adviser, your school principal, the leader of your church, try your town alderman, mayor or city manager and ask them what they think would improve the community.

Do an internet search for "Gold Award Project," and Eagle Scout Project" to see what others have done for their project. You don't need to copy what they did, it will give you ideas about what you may want to do.

Drive around your community, or ride your bike, or take the bus and look to see what you think could be improved.

Good luck with your project.

Keep on Scoutin'

Try contacting your local social services dept in town or city. Stay away from any fundraising as noted in another answer to this same question. Girl Scouts cannot raise money for other organizations! Any money you intend to use for your project MUST be approved by your local council, and only an adult can make the request.
Many animal shelters need help, as do senior citizen facilities. Good luck!
