Hee hee, well you've got more than enough answers to work with here. But I'll throw my two cents in. The "Word" of God may be perfect, but the "Word" of God is not the Bible - it's Christ. The Bible is just there to point us to Christ. Everything before Christ is an imperfect revelation - not the verbal dictates of God, but rather the graspings of the human mind as perceived by faith. Everything after Christ is meant to point us back to the perfect revelation of Christ. The worst idolatry within religious communities today is the idolatry of text - where we mistake a finite text for an infinite God.
Peace to you.

old testament was before Jesus sacrificed his blood allowing people into heaven before they went into a waiting area called jacobs bosom awaiting the blood atonement.
the new testament is the beginning history of Jesus's life and after his death.
as for the commandments Jesus left us two which if followed would still mean all the previous 10 that were spelled out before.
A good way to look at the bible as the Holy word of God is to look at the 10 commandments in there you will see that even if you covet or lust in you heart which is hidden from the world you are still sinning, No Man would write that since all men/women like to think that their thoughts are private.
not to mention that all prophesies in the bible to date have come true. with the exception of the end of days although the signs are getting more pronounced as we are approaching an age where the micro chip is about to be introduced and of course the only two place's the body will not reject it is the hand and the forehead as prophesied where the "dark mark or mark of the beast" would be.
the following links will show you what I say is true.
if you don't believe that is fine, so why ask answers you don't want an answer to?? do you just want to glory in ignorance?
edit:
if you have not read the whole bible through studied the history, culture, and time periods then you are basing your opinion on Hearsay, just like all those Christians who said Harry Potter was evil or from the devil but did not read the book. This is Ignorance, I would also bet you are one of those idiots that think the words "separation of church and state" are somewhere in the US constitution. Fact it was a personal letter from President Washington to a friend referring that the government should not interfere in the church.
again people believe its in there because they have been told its in there. HEARSAY, so unless you have actually read the bible and studied then you are putting your destiny under someone elses control. This is Ignorance.

According to the Bible ; I am the Lord your God,I change not,In Me there Is no shadow of turning.
The old testament was Jesus Christ concealed and the New Testament Is Jesus Christ revealed.Matthew 5:18
Jesus said;
18 For verily I say unto you,Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall In no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so,he shall be called the least In the kingdom of heaven;but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great In the kingdom of heaven.
We are still to obey the law even though we've been given a new covenant.
Yes we're under grace, But the 10 commandments are still valid and we should still follow them.

I asked this same thing of a friend who is a preacher. I liked his answer. In the beginning there was 1 simple rule. Do not eat the fruit from a specific tree. Man could not obey that one law. God then instituted a system with many laws and rules. Once again man was unable to follow them. Up to this point we are dealing with the Old Testament. Then came Jesus and the New Testament and grace. Unmerited favor. We no longer had to work our way to being redeemed we just had to rely on Jesus.
This is the basics of the change. Now why was there a change and there was a change. In the Old Testament God gave rules and laws that man had to live by. From reading the OT we can see this was impossible. I think God gave those rules and laws so that when Jesus came preaching grace we would realize we could not do it on our own. God intended grace from the beginning. That is why Jesus is called the lamb slain from the beginning of the world. The law just proved to us that we could not make it on our own so that we would accept Jesus and grace when it came. So we would not say well we could have made it on our own.
Hopefully this helps.

His word and His creation was perfect. It was Satan and man that corrupted it.
It is still to this day Satan and mankind that spoils a perfect creation. Satan desire and man's weakness.
Every baby born is born in perfect ignorance, and until man has a chance to show and teach him wrong he has no knowledge of it.
Same thing. Why blame God for your own weakness when He offers the only Salvation from it?
If your Christian contacts knew you or your understanding of the bible they have probably already told you it's one book. You can't make sense of either without the other. Tear a book in half and try to understand the story.

perfect or not, it took many, many years to write. Also, the old testament is basically the same bible as the Jewish faith follows. The new testament is all about Jesus as the saviour and son of God. So, if you are Jewish and don't believe Jesus was the son of God, you stick with the old book. If you are Christian, you use both. Since there was a very long time in between them, there has to be some distinction made.

The eighth chapter of Hebrews explains why God had to make a NEW covenant:
Hebrews 8:6-13
But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. Because FINDING FAULT WITH ***THEM*** [NOT HIS WORDS!], He says: "Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah--not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because ***THEY*** DID NOT CONTINUE IN MY COVENANT, and I disregarded them, says the Lord.
It is people who are imperfect, not God or his Word.

This why the Bible is divided in2 2 parts The 1st part is about the fall of man, mans need 4 4givness, the nation God use to send is son to forgive man (the nation of Israel) the 2nd part is about Gods son and about the churches after Christs ascension in to heaven and the return of Christ uc the reason they have 2 parts is 2 orginize the Bible not bc the word of God is imprefect

Not that I believe in Christianity... but to answer your question:
The old testament covers all of the history of people's accounts of God and what God said and did up until the time of Jesus. This is basically the Jewish holy book. But then Jesus came along and turned everything around. Jesus was a Jew and his followers were Jews. But after Jesus' death, those that followed him became Christians (followers of Christ) and the new testament was written all about Jesus.
So basically, the Old testament is where Jews and Christians agree. The New testament is where Jews and Christians differ. The Christians believe that the new testament is the continuation of the old testament but the Jews believe that the new testament is all bulls**t

The Old Testament is all about the Law, and the history of the nation of Israel, along with the prophets who foretold the future, among which was the coming of messiah. This is called the Old Testament, but it OUGHT to be called the First Covenant, or "The Promise Given".
The New Testament is the fullfilment of the promise, and OUGHT to be called the Second Covenant, or "The Promise Fulfilled".
God gave Abraham a promise, then 430 years later when He rescued Israel out of slavery from under the hand of the Egyptians, God gave them the Law.
But Law, itself, is weak, because it can not forgive, it can only judge.
But the Law, which came 430 years later, could not annul the promise. The Law shows that God is holy and righteious. The promise shows that God is Love.
So, when Jesus came to earth, He fulfilled the promise and He was "The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world."
But Jesus, who knew no sin, actually became sin FOR us, so that we could be made righteious. That is to say, He traded places with us, and payed the penalty for OUR sins.
NOW, God can offer you a full pardon because of what Jesus did for you.
To obtain the pardon, you must first of all, admit that you're guilty of breaking God's Laws to begin with. You need to ask God to forgive you because of what Jesus did. Also, you need to turn from breaking God's Laws to start obeying God.
Mind you, doing these things will not earn you a pardon, since you're already guilty. Rather, it frees up God so that He can righteously grant you a pardon by His own unmerited grace and mercy.
