A person or persons relocating from one country to another within precribed laws of the receiving country.

Persons doing the same but not following the laws are termed criminals.

Large masses of people moving into a country or area with or without permission is a migration.

Generally, immigration is good for a country, illegal immigration is costly and a negative factor, and migrations cause a large change or elimination with the first culture. Sometimes it is for the better as it was for American Indians and sometimes for the worse as it was for the Roman Empires.

Slavery is outside the context of immigration/migration.
