Meditate/prayer on this. If you want to become more connected with God, A good diet and mind-body exercises might help. I don't think homer simpson is the most reliable source. To really get close to God, do good in this world. God feels close to good and moral people, since God is the best in morality and goodness. But God expects us to solve our problems and make this world better, he won't do it for us. God will guide us, and give us protecting intuition, gut feelings.
