Moses-He wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, leading the children of Israel from one place to the next. His punishment for his procrastination was that he did not see the promised land himself.

Luke 9:59-60 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

The Big J could be a real tool sometimes, eh? :)
Not to mention, contradictory:

Matthew says that Jesus tells his disciples to "Honor your father and mother" (Matt 19:19), but Luke thinks that Jesus requires his followers to hate their parents: "Whoever comes to me and does not hate father and mother. . .cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14.26)

*sheesh* No wonder Christianity never made any sense to me as I was growing up. So glad it's not the only faith option available to me now that I'm an adult. So glad that my parents, who DESERVE honor, worked hard and made personal sacrifices so that I could go to good schools. So glad they insisted I study hard and learn to think... and not be a sheep.
