my teacher wants me to start listening to differnt clarinetists, to know what i need to sound like.
so who are some of your favorites?

Larry Combs, Frank Cohen, John Manasse, and Steve Cohen all have a very consistently beautiful, full tone.
Sabine Meyer's tone is sometimes very good and sometimes has a very thin tone.
Richard Stoltzman and Emma Johnson use way too much vibrato and often have very thin tone.

These are jazz and swing players of considerable fame many years ago.
