All you have to do is numb your toe with ice, burn a needle and stick the needle into the side where the ingrown toenail is and all of that infection will come out.
That is how i have gotten rid of ingrown toenails.
Wrap your toe in something soft and maybe if someone steps on your foot it wont hurt as bad but you can get rid of that ingrown toenail if you do what i said.

there are only two "secrets" to preventing ingrown toenails. 1. Cut your nails square across the end of the toe. Never cut the nail back behind the tip of the toe. 2. Wear shoes that have a wide "box", or toe. Never get shoes that squeeze the toes together. If you have any question about this, ask your family doctor about it at your next visit. I have to agree with, though. The best treatment is prevention.

You have really mean friends! Anyway, I would let the doctors cut the toenail out. Maybe see if you could get an appointment to have it cut out on a Thursday, stay home from school Friday and when you go back to school on Monday, it will be feeling pretty good. And tell your friends to stop being so mean. I can't believe they do that to you.

I know what your saying.Ive had them lots of times.I had to get the nail partially removed from a doctor.I didnt want to get it done.Ever since then I had no problems with it.So I think you should eventually have it done as much as you wont want to,although I think its worth it if it.And the procedure is easy. They numb your toe really good so you wont feel anything. With me they sprayed this stuff on my toe felt like ice water.I was so numb I didnt feel a thing. Then in like 30 seconds,it was over.I was in and out.I did not feel a thing. After that I felt pain for a week.I went to work day after. It was really hard for me to work. And I suggest you wear sneakers or sandles so your feet are comfortable after you have it done.Soak it and if you go out anywhere cushion it just in case to protect it.I think it would be good to get a doctors note and stay off of it as much as possible for the first week.Good luck with everything.

1) Get it cut out by your doctor. I have had ingrown toenails and the surgery is such a relief. You will not be in pain afterward and you'll heal quickly.

2) Wear steel-toed shoes :-) You can get a wide variety of shoes with steel toes ... they're not just big ol' bruiser boots anymore, they even make Chucks with steel toes now. People could step on your feet all they want and it won't hurt you one bit. :-)

Hello! I am experiencing it now. It hurts like hell I know.
If it has pus, it means your toe is having an infection. You should start putting on medicine.
For me because I am Asian, I have access to chinese medicine.
Once such thing happens, immediately get a chinese herbal oil from any chinese medicine shop. I bought 'Double Prawn Herbal Oil', which is good for these types of infection. It hurts, which is a good thing as the oil is killing the germs.
If yours have infected badly such that there's a piece of meat growing out of the area where your toenail grows in, continue putting the herbal oil. Purchase 'Saw Hong Choon Skin Ointment'. It is a white balm that helps very well in these types of situation. Note: you will notice your skin turning hard and white which is normal. This is caused by the medicine.
Continue for a few days and the piece of meat will turn white and drop off by itself, and your toe is cured! :D

If you go to most pharmacist, they'll tell you to opt for surgery. I think that it is a waste of money, and the pain you will go through is a thousand times worse than the traditional method.
Oh! One thing to note: for antiseptic purposes, use Betodine!

ALSO AN IMPORTANT NOTE:
1. Wear slippers/ sandals as it will not add pressure onto your toenail like shoes do! (Shoes cause the toenail to grow into your meat deeper.)
2. NEVER EVER LET YOUR TOE TOUCH WATER. (if you have meat growing out)
Sorry for the broken English, but yes. I hope people who read this recover soon! :-)

I think you should go for that surgery. Avoid people for a couple of days after that. You'll be cured. Check the website below.

Get it cut out, and wear a splint and sandals, wrap it in gauze and use crutches to keep stupid people from stepping on it.
