Hell yeah it does.
Winchester is good ammo and hollow points will do the job.
.357 Sig is a unpractical callibur in my opinion. .40 S&W is much better. And .45ACP if unbeatable for close quarters home protection.
As for Glock...eh. Not the best weapon in the world... specially for home use.

I considered (and tried at the range) several models of the Glock, with personal protection being one of the main reasons. As stated by several others here, the .357 sig (Glock 31, 32, 33) is LOUD and considering it has the highest muzzle velocity (around 1350 fps) it will penetrate walls and doors with FMJ bullets.

I settled on the G23 (.40) for several reasons - size (compact), ammo choice (cheaper and more variety than the sig) and a good balance of 'stopping power' and moderate recoil.

I'm not sure why USMC states that the Glock is not a good gun, but in my experience it has never jammed or failed (and I have put many rounds through it) and is very easy to use and maintain. In a crisis situation, the last thing you want to be doing is fumbling with multiple safeties, when a split second could mean the difference for you or a loved one. In the end, you should choose a gun that fits your hand well, and that you feel comfortable shooting.

A .357 Sig for home protections? Well, it does have the stopping power but... It is LOUD, even louder than many .357 Magnum rounds. The Model 32 Glock will produce a tremendous muzzle flash in the dark causing temporary blindness for follow-up shots. And, as Old Fuzz already pointed out, bullets go through a lot of dry wall so consider pre-fragmented bullets such as the Glazier Safety Slug for home protection. So if this is your first choice you are well armed and your ammo choice is fine except for the over penetration potential in a home defense scenario. I own a Glock Model 31 (.357 Sig) with night sights and it is loaded with 125 grain Remington Golden Sabers, but it is not one of my night stand guns.

Good luck.

It is not often that I agree with a USMC (being a USArmy E-7) but this time I think he is on to something. I do not like the Glock because it doesn't fit my hand and the trigger pulls me off target when it breaks.
I like the .357 Sig but in another gun. Mainly because bottleneck pistol cartridges have always intrigued me. But for shear personal protection the 45 acp is the one to go with.

You didn't say which hollow points, but if you can find the Winchester Ranger T-Series they are a proven dependable self-defense round. Though Winchester tells their dealers to restrict sales to law enforcement, many will sell to anyone. And yes, the .357 is a big time kick butt round. Not particularly popular, but definitely a great round.

The .357 Sig almost approaches the .357 Mag. in performance. I personally think this round is overpenetrative, and I would go with something else.

It's pretty much as good as any of the other choices that are easier to feed (cheaper ammo). Firing most any handgun indoors with no hearing protection is going to give you permanent and measureable loss of high frequency hearing from a single shot. Shotguns too.

Don't miss.

The other posters are correct. You have picked a fairly powerful weapon to shoot in your home.

You probably should looking to bullets like the GLASER SAFETY BULLET. This is a frangible round that does not over penetrate nor will it blow through your walls and into the neighbors home.

It is expensive stuff, but will worth the price.

If you have to shoot this indoors, it will give you hearing damage and affect your equilibrium (your ability to concentrate and continue).
You can get a different barrel so you can switch it over to a 40 Smith and Wesson caliber with a slightly reduced load which will not be quite as harsh (this will also be loud).
The 357 Sig is similar to shooting a 357 Mag indoors (not a good idea)

You guys are quite stupid. What difference does it make if the sig is to
loud or may over penetrate when your life hangs in the balance?
