Yes, Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/hdd.aspx?zo=1463115
is the best oil for a pre-2007 diesel pickup. Amsoil Synthetic Heavy-Duty Diesel & Marine Motor Oil SAE 15W-40 is a great chice too: http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/ame.aspx?zo=1463115
They are both synthetic, >12 TBN, more fuel efficient than conventional oils, and suitable for extended drain intervals. The 5W-30 provides even better fuel economy.
Great choice of oil and the Amsoil Absolute Efficiency (98.7% @ 15microns) oil filter: http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/eao.aspx?zo=1463115
For 2007 and newer diesels, check out Amsoil synthetic CJ-4 diesel oil: http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/deo.aspx?zo=1463115
Finally, one of the previous answers talked about running the same oil for 100,000 miles or more. This is possible with a bypass oil filter (98.7% @ 2microns) and oil analysis: http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/bf.aspx?zo=1463115 These filters filter a portion of the total oil flow at a time down to analytical cleanliness. Oil samples are send to a lab and the filters are changed and the results of the analysis are used to determine when to change oil. This may seem like a lot of work to keep from changing oil, but when your diesel truck holds 3-4 gallons of oil (big rigs hold even more) it makes sense.

Amsoil makes the best filters on the market. If you buy the extended change kit, and you don't already burn oil, you can change every 100,000 miles. Just change the filter(s) and add oil. The filters keep the oil clean as new for 1000's of miles.

If your oil looks clean chances are it isn't doing its job.A good oil contains detergents that help to keep your engine clean thats why oil gets dirty.Myself I never use synthetics unless the manufacturer specifically calls for it.Regular motor oil changed in the proper intervals has been getting the job done for more than a century.I use shell rotella t in all my diesels. Also you may want to check your warrenty I believe use of a non mopar or fleetguard filter voids it.

Amsoil may want you to believe that but if you have an oil that is costing you RPM's I would get out of my crankcase immediately. Any synthetic oil would be good to use. Mobil 1 is good. Castrol synthetic is good too.
