can someone confirm that it is true that playstation 3 has no regional codes with its games? for instance, if i live in the USA and buy a game from England, i can play it on my system back home?

This is true, but only for PS3 games, you can only play PS1/PS2 games from the region the PS3 was made in, same goes for DVD's and Blu Ray Disc movies.

It does, technically, have region codes, but no games use them (it's on the back of the box (2 for the UK))
I suppose it's so that if something like 'Manhunt 2' occurs again (where it's OK in one region but banned in another) you could at least get it published in one territory.
