Why do all the athiests attack christians/ other religious people continually? I'm not a christian personally, but others having religion doesn't bother me in the slightest. Why are some people so agitated about it?

If I was a christian, I would openly say so, as christians always identify their religion.

Being a minority group is no excuse whatsoever for an agressive attitude. Does one see gay or coloured poeple saying to others "If you're not like me, you're ignorant and unemancipated"? Of course there are Christian types that shove their religion down others' throats, but isn't this one of the reasons
that atheists object to theists? Why behave in the same way?

For the last time, challenging and criticizing your beliefs is not being resentful. I don't see any rudeness or disrespect (for the most part) coming from the atheists. Why are people so sensitive of criticism?
Do you know how many, "atheists are immoral, and they're going to burn in hell" answers I've gotten from Christians? Many religious people come off as very bitter as well.

I'm fine with religious diversity and everything. The problem I have is when religious groups try and push their bullshit on other people. Jehovah's Witnesses are notorious for this. Too many hardcore religious people don't understand that people can lead a perfectly happy life without god. It makes me sick when people tell me to let god into my life. It's like forcing a perfectly happy single man to start dating against his will. Some people need to be in a relationship while others are just fine by themselves.
I also don't like the idea of heaven and hell. It seems like scare tactics in order to get people to be "good". Instead of worrying so much about what may or may not happen after death, I think people should just be. It really aggravates me when people think it's a waste of time to just be, or that life without god is empty.
I know this obviously isn't true for ALL Christians, or Muslims, or whatever other religious groups are out there. The thing is that the people speaking out on forums such as Yahoo answers represent their respectve religious groups. For the most part, the religious people who don't have a problem don't talk shit. Therefore, on Yahoo answers, you see the extremes of both atheists and religious groups.

I'm not agitated nor am I resentful.
If people want to believe in such childish concepts that's fine by me BUT I do resent them from wanting to propose and enact laws stemming in their and from their delusional fantasies that will impact on me.
If you people want your religion ... fine.
Just don't tell me what I can do with MY body at anytime doing my life; don't be telling women NOT to have an abortion; don't be telling the government NOT to do stem cell research.
YOU do not own my body or any of my body parts - stay outa my body.
DON'T be dressing it up in 'it's a baby' and ‘rights of the child’ stuff.
If I want to end my life when the quality becomes crap then allow a doctor to help me out - don't be telling me I must be insane if I don't wanna live.
Keep you sanctimonious noses outa my business and we'll get along just fine.
Mmm; maybe I am just a little agitated towards wowsers who believe this planet is a penitentiary and they are the warders.

I'm not an atheist, but you do seem to be exercizing selective judgment here.
Some of the Christians here tend to be the ones spewing the most vitriolic venom.
I have never seen an atheist gloat that a Christian will suffer some nasty fate - let alone truly believe it.
I have never seen an atheist tell anyone else that they are evil simply for being different than them - let alone truly believe it.

Generalize much? I'm sure you haven't met every atheist so until you have how can you make such a statement.
I'm an atheist married to a christian so if I was that resentful do you think that would have happened?

Well I live in the UK and no one resents Christians here, they are simply seen as a bit retarded, a bit of a joke. A bit like Homer Simpson's neighbour, a bit of a pain in the B.
However from what I can see of US patriotism and religious fervour, it must be a very difficult thing to grow up in a small American town. The pressure to conform looks pretty extreme. I believe Yahoo Answers gives a secret outlet for many to let off steam. The Trolls who doorstep you and Bible bash are pretty oppressive.

I am an athiest and have absolutely no problem with others beliefs! Unfortunately you seldom hear from us peacefull ones...just like in most other social interests and issues , such as religion, the ones making the most noise are the most fanatical retarded ones.

I can't speak for everyone, but I "attack" theists (if you can call it that) because I have a vested interest in there being as few ignorant, irrational people on the planet as possible.

Why do Christians verbally attack those who do not believe in the way that they do? It is Humanity that is to blame not a thought process. Many atheists have to deal with hypocritical Family members so they might be a bit jaded. We do get tired of being judged though. Constantly being told that you are going to burn forever is insulting.

Because people keep misspelling "atheist"?
Seriously, I'm not resentful of Christians per se. I do not like religious doctrine becoming civil law, that's all. And I'll fight it.
