take a blood sample of one milliliter of blood and put it under the microscope and count the blood cells. Then multiply that by 1000 and then multiply that number by 5.8.

That should equal how many red blood cells are in his body (approx)

He has to go through an RBC count which is a blood test that tells how many red blood cells (RBCs) you have.

Blood is drawn from a vein, usually on the inside of the elbow or the back of the hand. The puncture site is cleaned with antiseptic, and an elastic band is placed around the upper arm to apply pressure and restrict blood flow through the vein. This causes veins below the band to fill with blood.

A needle is inserted into the vein, and the blood is collected in an air-tight vial or a syringe. During the procedure, the band is removed to restore blood flow. Once the blood has been collected, the needle is removed, and the puncture site is covered to stop any bleeding.

Normal results vary, but in general the range is as follows:

Male: 4.7 to 6.1 million cells per microliter (cells/mcL)
Female: 4.2 to 5.4 million cells/mcL

He will not accurately get the exact count of his redblood cells. If he is a medical technician and if he knows how to make a complete blood count, then he could definitely atleast know how to estimate his red blood cells through what we called normal values of blood.

Find out the concentration of red blood cells in a milliliter of this blood and multiple by the totals mls of blood he has ( it will be an estimate), its a simple calculation.

Does he have low Iron? low hemoglobin? What is the reason for needing the blood count? He would have to have a CBC (complete blood count and series of other tests) ordered by his physician.

Your boyfriend sounds like he needs to count his brain cells not his red blood cells. It would probably be much quicker to count his brain cells anyway

He just gets a blood test. That will tell him his blood counts. No problem, no big deal, simple.

Go to a doctor to get an average.

But if he wants to do it himself, I'd suggest he'd try something easier first, something with fewer numbers, like the number of brain cells he has.
