Characteristics:
1. Several seeds in each fruit.
2. Hard, protective cover.
Advantages:
1. Seed encloses and protects the embryo.
2. Seed contains food for the developing embryo.
3. Seed can remain dormant until conditions are right for growth to begin.
4. Seeds are contained in fruits that are attractive to animals - eaten by the animals. Seeds pass through the digestive system to be deposited away from the parent plant.
