People from all religions say that god loves his children and is pretty much the almighty power of the earth. But if god truly loved his children, why would there be all these expectations and rules in religion? Why wouldn't god just expect people to live there life without religion? Homosexuality is a sin, but if god truly loved all his children, why would homosexuality be a sin? You can't love someone if you don't accept ALL there qualities. Also, in Islam for example, Muslims pray 5 times a day. But if Allah/God is as powerful as he is said to be, what would praying to him do? It would be like a rich person expecting poor people to bow down to the rich guy; won't make much of a difference on the rich guy if the poor guy bows down.
So if god loves ALL his children, why is homosexuality, for example, looked upon so badly in religion?
If god truly is the most powerful being, why are humans expected to follow all these rules in a religion (Not eating something, bowing, etc.)

Molly S: That doesn't explain why homosexuality is a sin. If it is a sin to protect people, why do people get executed for it?

You make a great argument about religion. I've also had the experience of someone telling me I was going to hell because I didn't believe in their religion. I just laughed and said, well, I'll see you there, I guess.
If people were to look at the Bible, as an example, it is a book written by people, not by God. It's their interpretation of what God is maybe saying to us. It is open to anybody's interpretation, which begat religion.
As I have stated in other answers regarding religion, that is why I am against religion, because I believe it is designed to keep people in place and living in fear. If a person was spiritual, they do not live in fear, because they are filled with a spirit of well-being and love.
And what I find most interesting is how people can go around preaching the word of God, but they don't live it. He said to love thy neighbor as thyself. We are not to be the judgers, but to love all and let God judge.
People just lose the whole point of what they are supposed to be listening to and understanding.

im roman catholic.
so lets see. i wont answer anything about that allah dood.
cuz i really dont know anything about that religion and dont believe in him whatsoever.
well everyone is made in the image and likeness of God. Homosexuality is frowned upon by the Catholic Church because the Bible does not accept it. hmm.. its hard to phrase this... ill put this in the most um... respectable and appropriate way possible.
God gave us the gift of reproduction & gave Adam the gift of being able to love another human being[[Eve]] which is procreation.
the Catholic faith is sometimes kinda odd. We believe that being Homosexual is...decided upon the person and they are that by choice. That is majorly frowned upon.
But, they also realize and believe that studies show that some people find that they arent homosexual by choice but by a problem in their DNA and that they realize it after puberty. people of this sort are SUPPOSED to be shown with respect and sensitivity. unfortunatly that does not happen sometimes.
God gives rules in religion because unfortunately, we don't do things that were supposed to do. like go to church on sundays. if you don't know the ten commandments, thats a mortal sin. Well we basically have these rules because God does not want us to commit sin. God wants us to go to heaven and be with us eternally.
fasting is rare in the catholic teachings. the most ive ever down is not eat meat on fridays in easter time. lol.
and humans arent EXPECTED to.
God gives us the choice of good and evil. like in adam and eve. the chick didnt have to eat that freakin apple. but God gave her the choice. God isnt controlling. he isnt saying do thise right here and now or ill zap u from the heavens.
sorry i hope i answered ur question.
i go to a catholic school with a really good religion teacher but im only in the 7th grade.

1) God does not want "religion" with His people, He wants a "relationship". Sometimes people can be so concerned with trying to maintain their own salvation through a set of beliefs that they miss out on the joy of having a relationship with their Father.
2) God is Holy and His Word is Holy and true. When God spoke to His people about the sin of homosexuality He was trying to show them that it goes against what He intended in the beginning, and that people should refrain from lusting after the same sex because that's not what He created man and woman to do.
3) God is Love, and as such loves all people. He wants all people to turn from their wicked ways and accept His Son, Jesus Christ, and follow Him for eternal life.
4) When I, or anyone else, has a desire to accept Christ by faith and follow Him, then Christ becomes the One whom we love, and not the desires of our flesh.

Well, as a Christian, I don't think I have any rules like Kosher or traveling to Mecca.
But why do we have to follow rules? Because God is God and we have to listen to Him. And with these rules solves a lot of problems.
Why is homosexuality wrong? Because God didn't make us to be that way. It was Adam and Eve. Not Adam and Steve.
And God doesn't look down at you or hate you if you break His rules. He still loves you but He is hurt that you are doing or did that.
And God is a merciful God. If you do something wrong, recognize it, put yourself in the right, ask for forgiveness and He will forgive you. And He will even forget that you have even done it.
I hope that answered your question. Feel free to e-mail me if it didn't.

God's laws are made for our GOOD! Going contrary to God's laws brings harm to someone, if not a LOT of people, including ourselves. The harm of some sins is harder to see than others. But God is far more far-sighted than we are. God's laws are so that we can live long, prosperous and happy lives -- not just ourselves, but everyone.
You said, "You can't love someone if you don't accept ALL there qualities." Let's examine this statement with something that is a little easier to see -- a serial killer, for instance. Would you accept the quality that this person might one day kill you or your loved ones? Is this an acceptable way of life with which you can live happily with forever?
Homosexuality is a sin because it does not bring happiness to everyone forever. Sometimes one can only speculate as to why a thing is a sin. Such as eating things called "unclean meats." Today's science can speculate that God forbade this because these meats and things are detrimental to one's health (causing heart and liver disease, etc.).
There are enough of God's laws that are obviously made for our good (do not murder, do not steal, do not lie,...) that we should be able to see, and have faith in, that God made his laws for good, not as a burden.
Proverbs 3:1-2 -- My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you.
Leviticus 18:4-5 -- You shall observe My judgments and keep My ordinances, to walk in them: I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them: I am the Lord.

God wants everyone to be saved, 2 Peter 3:9, but he hates sin. Romans 12:9. On the other hand, not everyone loves God and not everyone acts in conformity with his perfect truth - that results in sin. How is it that one should expect God to accept that which cannot exist in his presence? Revelation 21:27; Revelation 20:10-15.
More to the point, if a person claims to love God and insists on doing that which they know to be abhorent to God, can it be said that they love Him? If not , then why would they expect God to reward them for that?
People should quit blaming God for everything and accept responsibility for their actions - that is, repent - and then accept Jesus.

Well, God has reasons for things, he needs people to do things, we are his servants. if there were not rules or regulations and laws, we would not have morals and follow Him. We have to pray because He wants to have a relationship with us. We need to follow Him and if none of those things were done, how could we? Homosexuality is wring because God made men for women and women for men, nothing less nothing more, nothing different. God loves all of his children, ALL of them, just not their sins.

God, is not represented as well as could be done by a lot of religions, but it is hard to do this. Meditating/ praying to God, does help develop the focus, and sensitivity, to better connect with God. The connection is not given entirely for free. God's power is limited in the human community, since God does not do the work for us, but is there to guide us. We need to make the effort to get this guidance. We have a lot of problems on this earth, and it is up to us to make a positive difference on this earth. We determine the future of the earth, not God. God, is our top spiritual leader and guide, who will reward all who do good in the world.

All religions is very inaccurate. You are describing the monotheistic religions of Christianity, Islam and Judaism...that is in no way "all religions" in fact that is a very myopic assessment of the state of religion in the world.
Humans are not expected to follow all the rules outlined by these religions, only the adherents of those particular faiths.

God didn't event religions, people did. All the rules are the results of what people think God wants us to do or not to do. Until we die we will never know with 100% certainty if we are really doing exactly what God wants us to, so all we can do is be the best humans possible while we are alive.
