would you rather fight someone with 9 years of kenpo karate or 4 years of muay thai? why

If you are talking about a kempo practitioner like Chuck Liddell, there's no way in hell I'd fight him.

If you are talking about a muay thai fighter that's 15 years old, I'd gladly take him.

The point that I'm trying to make is, that you need more info to get you a more accurate answer.

Kempo karate can be effective, but the average muay thai gym will sparr alot more, and realistic training makes you a bettter fighter.

If my options were to fight Chuck Liddell (kempo) or Wanderlei Silva (muay thai) , I'd seriously consider running away.

good luck!

9 years of Kenpo guy hands down. Muay Thai is devastating. I'd even bet on a 3 year Muay Thai guy fighting that same 9 year kenpo guy.

I rather fight the guy with the 9 years kenpo experience. The reason being is I did fight a guy that knew Muy Thai, and at the time I had 4 years experience in Hapkido. He kicked my butt. Granted he might have been very good in Muy Thai and I might have been not so good in Hapkido (I am saying this even though I handle myself well with other Hapkidoist) Muy Thai uses almost all elbows, knees and head butts as well as kicks to the thighs/legs. This isn't as common in other arts (although, today it is changing). Their fighting style is brutal, thats why all "newer" arts are taking some of their principles.

I would rather fight the Karate Kempo fellow anyday. Of course if the muy thai rules were different that would make a differance. Take out all his elbows strikes, knee kicks, to the mid section and head, round house Muy Thai style. Might make a differance. Shotokan Karate are as tough as they come, However Muy Thai fighters are even toughfer.Because of the use of elbows, and knee strikes.

Wait, is kempo and kenpo the same thing? im not sure, anyway I would fight the guy who looks the weakest

I have full respect for kmpo but, if the guys have the same fitness level/weight I would fight the Muay Thai guy, just not sure if kenpo and kempo is the same thing though

Probably will depend on the school as well, the kempo schools around my area train very hard and compete in our knockdown tournaments and do very well

The style shines alot....
Greco, Judo, Thai, AiKiDo, Kung Fu, BJJ, Sport Karate, all fair well. But Razor is, well a top fighter due to the person and the Skills.

It would depend totally on the fighter, not on the style.

it's not the art, it's the fighter and luck. bruce lee's real success was that he was a natural improviser and he was FAST.
