I am a H & R Block franchise owner, the information that I have at this time is that there may be a limited number of loans that will be offered. When they are offered they will be later in the year then last year. Also there will be more requirements for them.
I will also say that this might change, and has in the last couple of months.

Also as far as I know there was never any formal investigations into H & R Block directly. However, there is always somone who is mad about something and takes it out on the company. When taking out a refund anticipation loan there is many times in writing and on the forms sign that says that it is a loan and all of the terms of said loan.

I live near Evansville, Indiana but my local branch told me they will start the instant money anticipation loans starting December 10th through HSBC. Your credit...and your tax return will determine what amount between $500.-$1,500 you can get right then. Great for Christmas. Last year I opted for only $500 because I only needed a small amount and after fee's I walked away with $425.00. Not to bad.

I have not heard an announcement. I did hear that last year they were being investigated for conning borrowers into usurious loans and not admitting that the terms were very bad. So maybe they will not dare do loans again.

They told me (at an H & R office) that I needed to wait for some kind of mail invitation and take it to the nearest H & R. Also, I called H & R customer service and they told me they wont be offering it this year.
Nobody knows I guess....
