Whenever I say hi, hello, or hey to someone, I would feel all awkward.

You just have to work on your self esteem a bit more. There really is no awkwardness to saying hello but apparently you are uncomfortable with social interaction. Get out more and get involved with some of your favorite things to do and you will begin to find your center. Once you are around people more you will begin to see how easy it is to interact. Everyone has to find their comfort zone but staying outside of socialization won't give that to you.

Why feel awkward? There's nothing wrong with saying hello or hi. If you feel awkward using these words, it's probably because you feel a bit awkward meeting strangers..maybe that's the real reason?

The words are fine. :)

Well that's probably an issue with you, not with the greeting itself. I can't see why you would feel awkward saying hello or hi or hey...and I don't see how finding another greeting would make a difference. But nevertheless, "good day" is another option. :)

this is the greeting that i usually use "hey, how are you" adding the question is much more friendly and gives the other person opportunity to start the conversation that way you won't feel as if you need to. not to be offensive but i think you should work on your self esteem. good luck.

Just be enthusiastic, smile, say "hey, how are you?" or "hey, how was your weekend?" or "hey, what are you up to?"
If it's an adult, smile, put out your hand first, and say "Hi, it's so nice to meet you" or "Hi, it's so nice to see you again."
