Ha ha! I'm from Richmond, born and bread. My fiancee is from south New Jersey. She's a huge Eagles fan and always talks about how she misses the deli's from back home. Then again, the cost of living is so much cheaper down here than up there. In New Jersey, everyone shops at Christiana Mall in Delaware! Wal-Mart is all over, everyone everywhere shops at Wal-Mart. Virginia is not New Jersey. We don't have some of the night life that the New Jersey cities have. However, you don't have to go to a Package Goods store in order to buy alcohol. The elected officials are a bit more responsive to the citizens here. The local law enforcement are a lot nicer than NJ Law Enforcement. (I am in LE, and I have not had many positive meetings with NJ LE. I'm not trying to disparage them, but I just don't understand their mindset.)
You complain that "these people are different." Don't forget, you are also different to "these people." Try to find a middle ground. You have to give to get.
You just have to find your own groove. Where do you live, what are you close to? What brought you down here? If you are in school, try to get into some extra curricular activities or clubs. Grab the newspaper to see if there are any clubs or meetings in the area.
Good luck!

ROFL! I moved out to California from Virginia 2 years ago, and i thought people were too wild here! Yeah, Virginia can be extremely boring, depends on where you are. Where I used to live was Christian majority, and all they talked about was the religion(which can be very overwhelming.) So... um... I suggest
1) Yeah, you'll hate it.
2) Not only that, you'll see a lot of damn seagulls trying to steal your french fries at wal-mart.
3) Yeah, you'll be hated.
4) Right. But they are extremely nice people, on the other hand.
I suggest you go to church to make friends, there are always naughty ones too! So, keep looking. You'll find someone as wild as you. Good luck.

Well its not totally bad out there. My uncle lives in chesterfield and its really nice out there. Plus in the summer go the the beach cause its amazing there. Yes alot of people shop at wal-mart down there but who knows why they just do. I live in jersey, sparta to be exact and i am a yankee fan plus my uncle and his family are yankee fans so you arent alone down there. Yes and no. Some are differnt and some arent. My uncle is from Ny and he knows like 20 familys from differnt states. Yes moving sucks alot i moved to jersey from LI for my dads job and i hated it here for awhile but i just got used to it and made new friends. If you are still going to school then go out and talk to people! You are bound to find some people that you would like to hangout with. I am a guy so i dont know what girls do for fun but make alot of friends and do stuff with them like shopping and stuff. That got some pretty crazy malls down there! So go out there make friends and yes it does suck but over time you will learn to like it. Good luck.

Try joining a club at school about something you like. You might find friends that like what you like to do. I would hate it if I had to move but try to not act like you think their town is retarded even though you do. Also, if there is anyone else that is new at the school you might want to talk to that person if they seem nice. You might become friends with them because you are both new.
