I've been looking for a PBS TV movie from 1970 called "The Trail of Tears" about the Cherokee. No one seems to have it. It can be referenced at: http://www.stevenmenke.com/trailoft. I've already tried Amazon.com, Blockbuster.com, local video stores that specialize in old movies, and the public library - without success. Help.

This movie is different from the 2006 "Trail of Tears" movie narrated by James Earl Jones.

Your only hope is through film collectors or the tape-trading circuit (Google "tape-trading" or try the newsgroup alt.video-tape.trading). Most very old PBS programs are now in the hands of private collectors who possess copies on 16mm film or videotapes (most likely on either open-reel videotape,Umatic,Cartrivision or Betamax*).
[*Cartrivision was an early Seventies videocassette format;TV sets with the recorders built-in were sold at Sears stores from 1971 through 1974. Open-reel video recorders were around for home use as early as 1967. Umatic (3/4") videocassettes were what TV stations used from 1969 until the early 1990s to record and broadcast shows;home versions of the machines appeared a few years later.]
